Another go, what do you think?

Art Attack 12-12-2002 04:40 PM

nice! your pretty good at cut outs!

Magnum 12-12-2002 04:45 PM

I guess you misunderstood me. You don't want to use the airbrush itself. Go into the eraser tool, and the toolbar at the top of the screen will have a drop down menu that has options like pencil, airbrush, and paintbrush. That changes how the eraser works. You get a light erase effect when you use it in airbrush mode.

hmmmz will check that out and get back to you.

I checked it out and tried to give it a go, but didn't work the way i wanted it, i want a tool that is good for blending.

What you all think of this sig?

Spiderm@n 12-13-2002 10:28 AM

hmmmz, looks like no-one wants to help now cry:

blending can be done a million ways. depends on what type of blending you want to have done.

as for your sigs. DO NOT OVERUSE LAYER STYLES! they are unimaginative to say the least. layer styles (bevel & emboss, outer glow, etc) are ok because you are just starting out. my advice to you is to do some hard research into tutorials and such. here are a few sites to help you out.

http://www.teamphotoshop.com
http://www.tutorialforums.com
http://www.thewebmachine.com
http://www.phong.com
http://www.planetphotoshop.com
http://www.photoshopcafe.com
http://www.eyeball-design.com

that's about all i can think of right now.

here is a good tutorial on cutting out complex objects (such as hair) from their background and readying them for transplant to a new background.
http://www.myjanee.com/tuts/hair/hair.htm

if you are just cutting out a simple object like that soldier, don't use the lasso at all. use the pen tool. it's frustrating when you first start using it but once you get it it's a great skill to have.

the best thing about tutorials is that you learn how to do new things with old tools. it also shows options you would otherwise disregard.

as for the tools that i use? every single one.

good luck with photoshop. i hope you enjoy it as much as i do. and if you have any questions go to http://www.teamphotoshop.com/forums there are a lot of people there willing to help.

Spiderm@n 12-13-2002 02:38 PM

Thanks mate, that was just a mess about, i'm trying to learn how to do backgrounds better

A-Pek 12-13-2002 07:09 PM

try taking a photo background (any photo) then on a new layer applying your render/clouds (also try difference clouds for more contrast). use a large, soft(pressure-wise) brush for your erasor and delete some of the clouds. mess with the opacity or hue (anything like that) till it looks good. it'll give you a nice cloudy effect over a photo backdrop.

that same effect i'm talking about was used to make this sun flare (a LOT more steps went into this but you get the idea).
