It could be that, but it probably is with the DirectX, it messed up my comp too, took me several hours to get it back up to snuff, just to play 1 game..

What version number of the drivers are you using? I had the same problem with the most up-to-date drivers for my RADEON; everytthing worked cept BF1942.
