Did you have the demo installed from before you installed the full game, if so Did you remove it first completely ?
ME has an option to go back in time so to speak. basicaly you can bring back your system ( registry ) settings to a known working on a set day.
I would remove the game, and demo, delete everything left behind ( and there will be stuff). go throuh your registry and get rid of anything pertain to MOH, do a search for medal of honor.
( back your reg up first if you dont know what your doing).
reboot, then go back to the day before you installed MOH.
run a scandisk and defrag.
then reinstall it.

If its a Dell im sure its not the VIA chipset as they are in bed with INtel so no need to worry about 4n1 drivers.

then smoke two bowls and call me in the morning.
seriously try the above.

You never answered my question
do you have any other Quake 3 engine based games installed, and if so do they do the same thing.
also I hope you did not run the GL setup
if you did that maybe the problem right there.

I have 12gb of hardrive space http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif So i don't think that's the problem. That going back in time thing seems complicated and risky. I could really f*ck up my pc with that because i don't really know what i'm doing. The main thing i don't get is that it worked once. The point is that at one time it was working. Why the hell wouldn't it be working now, what did i do then that i'm not doing now? Oh God, i'm sick i have the flu, i'm burning up as i type. I can't see Black Hawk Down tommorow because i'm sick, and the one game i've been waiting for for 2 years isn't working. Life really sucks...

I think this problem has something to do with the virtual memory. Did you specify the virtual memory? if so, make sure it's not set too low, usually 1.5 the amount of ram you have. Otherwise, set it to "let windows manage my virtual memory settings" Never used WinME before, but all windows OS should have this setting. good luck.

fuel_200 01-24-2002 07:38 AM

and how do i go about doing that?

fuel_200 01-24-2002 11:57 PM

ah, it says that if i change the virtual memory manually that it could screw up my pc. It's curently on 10000 something and i could move it up to 20000 something. my pc can't update drivers, for some reason everytime i try to update my drivers when i restart the computer it says could not update 1% from 2% and it screws up my pc and i have to go through a big ass process to fix it. agian though, i don't think it is a problem with the drivers because the demo worked and the game worked that 1 time. Could i possibly have a defective disk?

It could be your CD ROM. I had a similar problem, and it turned out to be a file corruption problem during the install.

1. Uninstall MOH:AA. Get rid of saved games etc, and delete the EA Games folder when finished.

2. Copy all the files from both disks to your hard drive in separate folders called Disk1 and Disk2 respectively.

3. Run the setup from your hard drive under disk1, and when it asks for disk 2, point it to the directory where you copied all the files from disk 2 to.

4. Play.

Also - make sure you set your virtual memory correctly. Either let windows manage it, or set the minimum and maximum to double your ram. So if you have 256 megs of RAM, set your min and max virtual memory to 512.

Also, defrag. Update your drivers. If you can't update your drivers, your computer is fucked up beyond belief. Format and reinstall your Operating System.

fuel_200 01-25-2002 06:34 AM

I don't think it is a problem with my drivers either. The demo worked and the game worked once.

[DDT]ServerAdmin 01-25-2002 07:06 AM

dont know if thhis is true, but i read somwhere (guess in
the info text file that comes with the game, think its
in MAIN cat., not sure) that some geforce2 MX cards can cause the game to crash.
BTW, ME sucks BIG time, i use it too, and
i hate it, yuck!!!

Going XP next Week.

Try Detonator 23.11 or .12, might work

I'm not sure about WinME, but from Win98 you got to <LI>control panel>system>performance>virtual memory.

I'm assuming it is set to the default setting, which is ok, but in case you need to do changes make sure you don't set them too low (1.5 or 2 times the amount of ram you have is good) and place both the MAX and MIN to the same amount. good luck!

That copy disks to my pc then install thing didn't work. and why would i want to set my virtual memory from 12073 to 512? wouldn't i want to move it up to 20753? I'm pullin my hair out over here, any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Deathdealer 01-26-2002 12:05 AM

Yo Fuel you using a virus protection program Like Norton? If so disable the Autoprotect feature. Try running scan disk to see if your files are corrupt and reporting wrong file size. I had so many crashes on this game to start I almost said screw it and took it back. Lately been running fine. It kept crashing evertime it saved. Sheesh NP with RTCW played error free out of the box.
Not a bad game but way too much scripting feels like I'm playin the old Lucas Arts Rebel Assault.
