Series Synopsis:

Alien Series: Space ship crew gets killed by Alien. Ripley is the only survivor and blasts the alien into space.
Ripley goes to a space colony with some marines. Lots of death. Queen Alien is discovered. Ripley kills Queen.
Ripley crashes into space prison. 'Dog Alien' emerges. Rippley and prisoners kill Alien. Ripley kills herself as Queen is born from her.
Ripley is cloned as sort of a human with Alien abilities. Lots of dying. The Queen now has the ability to give birth to live young. Fucked up half human half Alien is born. Ripley betrays it and it gets sucked out a tiny hole.

Pred Series: Marines in jungle. Kill some bad guys. Predator kills off Marines one by one. Schaeffer battles Predator. Schaeffer defeats Predator. Predator self destructs.
Predator in LA with lots of gang warfare. Harrigan kills Predator.

Which ones (the best ones) do you think I should rent?

Alien 3 was a sleeper, but Alien Ressurection was good for the action. The storyline was..horrible to say the least. I think basically they were waiting for ever to use new CGI stuff for the Alien series.

I don't know how anyone can say their favorite is Alien Resurrection, that movie was a steaming pile of crap. I hated Alien 3 for a while because it totally negated what Cameron did in Aliens, but later on I learned to appreciate it for what it was. Predator 2 had its moments, but wasn't nearly as good as the first.

Alien vs Predator originated from Dark Horse comics. Dark Horse had done several original Alien/Predator comics and they were very popular. An idea came up by one of the writers to combine the Alien Predator universe and that's where the Alien vs Predator story came from. In teh comics, the Predators used the aliens as prey, they would plant the eggs on various planets and let the aliens grow to maturity. Then, the predators would send their younger warriors down to the planet to prove themselves.

In the first comic series, the ship drops the eggs off on a human colonized planet, and hundreds of aliens are eventually born from the cattle/humans. The predators send a ship down to stop them and the humans get in the way. Everyone dies except for one girl and a predator, who have to help each other survive. The predator ends up sacraficing himself and saving her.

In the second series the Queen Alien that the predators use to produce the eggs gets loose on the ship and the girl helps restrain her. She now wears predator armor and is considered an outcast.

There were some other series after that but they weren't as good as the original. This movie does not follow the comics and the director is a hack so I wouldn't be surprised if I left the theater shaking my head.
