[quote="Jin-Roh":de189]game innovation: Absolute control and interactivity?[/quote:de189]

Don't see that happening for quite a few years, for that to be possible the game would probably take forever to make and have completly open ended maps, every building in the map would be accessable. Texture useage alone would prohibit this.

Well texture useage is dependant on the amount of ram on your graphics card, go over the amount of the card and the pc will start to use your main system ram, for a fully interactive world on a large scale with every building explorable i dont think it would be do'able on graphics cards with even 512mbs of ram or more.

So a few nobodies get up on a soap box and bitch that no creativity is left in the industry. That marketing is flawed, and that most games are horrible role models. All i can say is... Duh. Even the most casual gamer can tell that every ounce of creativity has drained from developers when yet another WW2 title hits the shelf. Oh and what a surprize, its Europe's campaign. Out of god knows how many WW2 games we got 1 that went to the pacific. Sadly it was flawed, rushed, and generally un-enjoyable.

As for the marketing, yeah it blows that after 4 months your game hits the bargin bin for 14.99. Fact is games have a short life span. A movie industry compairison is pointless. A movie is theater released, you watch it once for 6 bucks, you like it so you buy it on DVD, the DVD cost 15.99. (the week its released most are on sale for that price where i work) You can watch it via PPV, but if your doing that you likly didnt see it in a theater, or you can rent it, but if your doing that you probably didnt see it in a theater and arnt going to watch it on PPV. Sure, theres alot more ways for it to be seen/accessed, but many people choose one or two methods. IE theater, then buy the DVD, or rent it then buy the DVD, etc. The money one person spends on a movie at a grand total is less than the price of 1 video game, esspecially if that game is a "premium title" such as doom3 was at release for 54.99 rather than the 34.99 you see some new releases at.

I wont even bother touching on role models, simply because today, there are none to be found anywhere. Even kids parents dont want to be there role models. They'd rather just put Finding Nemo in a DVD player and walk away.

wow! what kind of bargin bins do you guys have? I was browsing future shop the other day and bf:v (yawn) is going for $40 still what? a year later?

Speaking of bargin bin..I got moh breakthrough for £5 a month or so back. I still think i got raped up the asshole for paying that much for it. One of my favourite parts of the game is you walk towards a building and outside is an empty opel truck, a guard comes out with a prisnor you shoot the guard and like 8 germans spawn in the back of the truck. By this time you're about 5 feet away from it and can actually see them spawn a couple of feet above the back of the truck and drop into it.
