They are goin to have a monopoly on all this software. They can easily control prices.

thats what i am worried about really ... i am just getting to know the macromedia products, and while fireworks isnt photoshop ( i dont think its suppose to be in the first place ), i does TONS that photoshop and illustrator cannot. its AWESOME for drawing vector art work and working with shapes ... doing either of those things in adobe products is hard as shit.

if you havent tried fireworks you might change your mind ... the two together make a great product .. but both have good qualities... the "freehand" drawing in illustrator is much better than fireworks but fireworks handles working with shapes ( ie rounded rectanges , etc ) much easier than either ill or photoshop.

i havent messed much with freehand but i think it is macromedias version of illustrator.

i actually started up with fireworks before i had ps. simple to use granted but i felt it was quite limited compared to photoshop/illustrator

I'm sure Fireworks is a fine product, but for the week or so I was forced to use it here at work, I found it to be extremely non-intuitive. I have a feeling this was due to me being so used to Photoshop that any other way of creating graphics was fucked.

I only use dreamweaver and on the odd occasion flash. I just hope they dont fuck up these products!
