Well, alot has happened since my last update: elections; IEDs; snatch and
grabs; missions in Biaj; convoys; "shep meals"; Thanksgiving; Ramadan etc.
It has all been going buy in a blur and the time is flying!!!

Thankgsgiving out here was actually quite good as there was plenty to eat
and the meat was cut in 1 inch thick servings (Turkey, rib-eye and ham) plus
all kinds of side dishes.

The missions that we have been on hsve been fun. We went in on a couple
cordon and searches (ie ring around the city while searching houses) as
advisors (big and small missions). The Iraqis did a pretty good job and
worked well hand in hand with other US forces present.

Thanks to many back home, our tent is the best decorated on the block! We
have a tree with lights etc, lights inside and lights outside, there is a
Santa and there are stockig.... no one can touch us!!!! I will try to get
some good pics out on that later.

The picture I have attached here is one taken on the first day of Eid. This
is the celebration that starts after Ramadan and lasts for about 3-4 days.
The US gave the Iraqi BN here some cash (about $3700) and the BN CDR decided
to use it to purchase food for the poor and distribute. There was a HUGE
contingent of forces down in Biaj in support. This was in part security and
presence. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but it was a new experience being in
the middle of a crowded market place watching the movements of every male
that you could see. I definately have more respect for those folks who do
that on a daily basis (think Secret Service etc). The children came out of
the wood work and were swarming around us all. They would ask for our
sunglasses, our pens - anything; or they would try to sell us Pepsi, cookies
etc. The shirts were interesting as well: everything from Georgia Bulldogs
to Thomas the Tank Engine was visible.

The major election is coming up and the preparations are ongoing. The
majority of the Iraqis (interpretors, locas, Shieks, Police, Army etc) are
all planning on voting and are all excited about influencing their future.
All of this while Saddam is on trial... kind of cool. Regardless of the WMD
issue, removing Saddam was the right thing to do and all the Iraqis I have
come in contact with agree.

I will try to get more out shortly (depends on the speed of the computer).

I hope that you all have a happy Holiday Season and enjoy your friends and
family. All of us over here wish we could be back there, but know that
there are periodic requirements for soldiers to be away from home.

Awesome man. My church has been sending supplies to soldiers in Iraq since it started and soldiers send back a lot of letters saying thanks and how it's not as bad as the media is portraying it and sometimes they send some cool pics, that's awesome
