JC/Community college is a great way to do your school and not drop a couple of grand on shit you arent even majoring in. dont feel bad, when you realize how much money you've saved, it will turn into a wet dream when you arent in debt. just dont end up like 75% of JC students by graduating/transfering after 4 years of fucking around. get in, see a counselor and stick to your plan. some classes qualify for the JC credit and university credit, so get those because they count at both schools. you should hurry up and decide what you want to major in, though. thats the most important thing next to passing your classes.

Some people don't get into the college they want, so instead of joining the Army or getting an apprenticeship, they shoot for a two year degree and attempt to do stellar in community college so they have a much better chance of getting into a really good Uni.

There is a CC near where I live named NOVA (Northern Virginia CC) but people say it's "NOVA, where the N stands for knowledge." I always thought that was pretty funny.

Seriously though, if you can find a good CC then go for it, it really is worth it from what I hear. There's nothing wrong with going to a CC and getting credits done for cheaper then transferring to a real college.

my community college has the best IT classes in Illinois, and they got 2nd place in the automotive competition (1st place was UTI while 3rd was LTI as far as i remember)...

the reason our IT dept. is so terrific is because we get lots of government grants and have close ties with Cisco systems so we get alot of new technology fast, and since it is a community college, a lot of people can afford to go there instead of UIC or University of Chicago, or even MIT.

MVCC will be competing in the Cybergames too, so lets hope we kick some university ass.

Community college is nice and cheap. I know atleast 10 people i went to HS with when they first went into fancy 4 year colleges, they did nothing but party obviously because a year later they are in Community College

Ok guys, here's what Arkan thinks. I have 3 close friends who are brothers. The oldest graduated with a 2yr degree. The middle guy with a H.S. diploma, and the youngest a H.S. drop out.

fast forward 15yrs.....guess who makes the most $$$

The 2yr degree guy works for someone and is barely getting by
The middle guy is in better financial shape and has his own business but wants more out of life
The H.S. dropout owns a business and three houses.

You do the math. It doesn't matter where you go.....it just matters what you do once you join the work force.

Of course that happens rarely, but still it matters what you do afterward(although the colleges will prepare you immensely)...

That highschool dropout is obviously a self-made made, like my dad. My dad barely graduated HS and he only attended some night schooling on how to weld. Now his company is worth $30M, I think it's that much because my dad is in Virgina right now, bidding on a $30M job. You'll understand if you know how contracting/bidding/bonds work. I am no where near like my dad though, he a lot more motivated and aggressive. School + Proactive/Aggressive personality + street smarts = nice life. I think that's how it is these days, anyway.

ok, i hope i don't fuck this up but let me give it a shot.

A buddy told me recently that college prepares someone to work. Thats it. You won't be the "man" if you have to work for the "man". Fucker is right.

All kidding aside, most guys my age that i know are more sucessful without that paper degree. And those that are more sucessful own the businesses where the paper degree holders work. Fucking unbelievable but true.

My words of wisdom to you people is this. Degree or not, make your money work for you, instead of working for it.
