No matter how much u tell people this, its not gonna change anything. Well destroy ourselves before we change.

Careful what you listen to..exxon and many other companies has flooded money into many institutions. AEI, and even michael crichton have recieved money. I'll post the link shortly..just watching a documentary now

receiving money from an organization doesn't mean the data is corrupted, it is questionable, certainly, but it doesn't prove anything. Also, it's naive to think that only one side of this argument is receiving money from outside sources and has ulterior motives.

http://www.exxonsecrets.org/html/listorganizations.php

Yes this site is funded by greenpeace, but if you notice each organization is cited so you can check the facts yourself..if your looking at certain think tanks be sure who they are funded by. Hoover institution is heavily funded by exxon and other corporations, further advancing their voice through intellects who give us the message..Like I said c312 be careful what you read..many scientists have spoke out against the bush administration for censoring reports because of harsh language used such as "extinct". I remember watching a 60 minutes interview with the leading climate scientist from NASA and he said his reports were being censored extinsevly..

Giving money doesn't alter a message? wtf? Thats like me saying I'll run a leftist think tank, advancing a peace agenda...then lockheed martin starts funding my organization..do you not think I will change my message in some way? What the hell are you getting out of your education c312...yessh. rolleyes:

You still havent proven your point yet.

c312 04-18-2006 07:43 PM

it doesn't. If Exxon funds a study, that doesn't automatically mean that it is a lie. Like I said, it makes for suspicion, but it doesn't prove anything.

It is. As drastically as some of these people claim - thats HIGHLY debatable. . .as are the causes.

c312 04-18-2006 08:25 PM

I think for the most part, "the right" agrees that the earth is getting warmer, but not as much as Al Gore and his followers would like everyone to think. I think the earth is getting warmer, but only by a small amount, just like it has in the past.

tomxtr 04-18-2006 08:52 PM

I consider myself right of center and sure there are politics involved as much as science, but most people recognize that the earth is warmer than it was a century ago.

Temperatures have only been recorded for what, the last 150 years or so. That's nothing compared to the age of the earth. With such a small subset of data, how can anyone predict what our climate will be like in 20+ years. No one can even tell you with 100% certainty if it will rain next week, or what the temperature will be. That's why its difficult for me to get worked up about global warming. I'm probably naive, though. That I know with some degree of certainty.

Sirus 04-18-2006 09:24 PM

if it happens, it wont happen in my lifetime.

04-18-2006 09:31 PM

im with machette and al gore on this one.

Eight Ace 04-18-2006 09:41 PM

I disagree that the world is getting warmer, I had to get out the electric blankets the other night it was that chilly...
mind you, the fact that summer is over and it's now autumn may have something 2 do with it.

Coleman 04-18-2006 09:56 PM

I've taken a couple of environment courses this year and found much evidence that supports that it may not be human causes that is making the earth become warmer. Yes, it is becoming warmer. But what are the reasons? MANY scientists have evidence that support both sides. So machette, don't completely shut out the opposing view.
