hows that?

Review of it here, you can see that the lower clocked core2 is is just as fast as amd's 2.8ghz fx62.

Alright lets just say i never plan on overclocking....still think i should go with intel?

From those benchmark test it would seem a 5600+ would outperform the Core 2 6400

Yes but in that case id get the faster 2.4 cpu.

5600+ afaik is 2.8ghz, same as the fx62 in those benchmarks.

yeah 2.8, thanks gerv ill take a look at that web page

haha my 3500+ is doing decent against the big dogs.

I dont know gerv, reading the review of the 5600+ on that site it seems to be pretty good, probably tied with your core 2 duo. (not over clocked that is) And its only 175 dollars which in Pounds is damn cheap.

If you want my advice, do what im doing. Waiting till the new cores come out later this year and buying whatevers best. ddr 3 ram is already on the horizon and some new intel mobo's are supporting it.

Just save your money till later this year.

Good thinking.

While were on the subject of hardware i have to say the new nvidia control panel is absoloutely shite.

Kinda reminds me of my last dfi motherboard, all these fucking options leaving me scratching my head. They seem to be doing some dodgy shit with these drivers, in bf2 for instance in the external cam the hind helo seems to drop in level of deetail long before my x1900 ever did.

Performance is pretty good though using those settings in dod sauce

My buddy has the 8800 with a 5200+ and i watched him play BF 2142, and it ran real smooth with everything cranked up. Looked real good.

I dunno, i prefer ati mainly because of the control panel, most people ive talked to hate the new nvidia panel as its a headache to mess with the settings and have to click on each one to se wtf these new options do.

Id still have my 2900 if my psu coulda handled it. cry:

ninty 05-24-2007 01:35 PM

mmmm dod sauce.

ddr3 ram this year will limit you to intel only though, right? amd boards won't support ddr3 till next year i think...
