Had em for a year. Glad their off, but you get used to them. I have a friend whose 19 and just got his braces off about a month ago. Its better to get them when your younger than when your older, trust me.

So Shit. I got them like 5 hours ago today and I already broke a bracket off.... The stupid metal wire is digging into the bottom of my mouth and the dentist does not come back until nest tuesday (The first day of school)...

Apart from that it's not ba....

OH SHIT! who the hell am I kidding, it sucks. At least its only for a year.

i remeber when i had em, i wouldnt care id eat anything i wanted but the first few days suck! your teeth hurt like hell, you cant even eat cotton candy it hurts so much biggrin: Then they dig into your mouth grr i remember it would piss me off bad and i would just literaly tear whtever part was hurting me off angel: shows that damn orthodontic And the retainer god how many times did i "accidently" throw it away while eatin. And if u wear it at night it gives ya a soar throut M16: i was an evil patient.

I had braces for two years way back when I was in high school: it wasn't a
pleasant experience, to say the least, but it was well worth it. I needed a
retainer for about 6 months after that and I was finally free.

As for food, well... here are some things I had no trouble eating:

- protein shakes (err, not food but worked)
- soup (chicken, whatever)
- pudding (very good for the two days after you get your elastics changed)
- macaroni or another type of pasta (tortellini w/ pink (rose) sauce kicks)

I loved pizza and popcorn but some little pieces always seemed to get
stuck... but it was well worth it :D

Gum was never a problem for me.

I ate any kind of food, sometimes it hurt yea but i dont remember it being as painful as you guys are saying

the easiest way to deal with elastics is bite down hard and keep biting down, it will hurt like hell for a couple of seconds but be worth it.

I had 'em for about a year and a half, hurt like hell... Now I've got the retainer, but after my first visit with it on, it was actually moving my teeth into a bad position... So I only have to wear it at night, even though I wasn't really wearing it before that ;)

But food suggestions, hmm... None. Just eat what the hell you want and take the pain, the taste usually overcomes it :)

I am so lucky I dont need bracelets and never did.
