the universe is still growing. larger and larger

Bucknub 12-16-2002 10:59 PM

face it guys...... it is impossible to travel back and forth through time

ninty 12-16-2002 11:00 PM

Keep in mind that no one has ever travelec at C so we can't really know if we can go beyond, or if we can even get there. But i agree, that if we can get to C, some doors will begin to open.

intrestedviewer 12-16-2002 11:00 PM

i was scared of getting buried alive, or still existing when i am dead somehow oOo:
when I was a kid I thought that was the scariest thing, knowing you will never live again, as long as time continues...[/quote:6389b]

i think about it when ever i have time. it makes u a better person

Old Reliable 12-16-2002 11:00 PM

what the hell!

if this is true, can you imagine the possibilities of visiting other systems?

ninty 12-16-2002 11:01 PM

Thats why everyone always talks about wormholes and bending time and such.

12-16-2002 11:02 PM

i read soemwhere that worm holes are too small to fit a human

Bucknub 12-16-2002 11:02 PM

sweet.. not only can we play MOH across the world..... now we can play it across the universe oOo:

intrestedviewer 12-16-2002 11:03 PM

ever wonder whats in a black hole? how does a rip in space just happen. How can u rip space?

Bucknub 12-16-2002 11:03 PM

heh but it is possible to get younger as u go further into the universe..... I cant really remember how it was explained... bit its possible

12-16-2002 11:04 PM

i dont knwo exactly, all i know is that star collapses and a black hole forms

ninty 12-16-2002 11:05 PM

Black holes:

Bucknub 12-16-2002 11:07 PM

[quote:e1d9a]The inexorable one-way slide of the universe towards a heat death imprints on the world about us a distinctive "arrow of time", which serves to sharply differentiate past from future. The best way to think about this is to imagine a movie being played backwards. Chances are that it will look ridiculous and the audience will laugh. The deception is so obvious because most physical processes display a conspicuous directionality in time. The reverse process is either impossible or extremely improbable, spilt milk doesn't leap back into the jug and rivers don't flow uphill.

I beleive this answers all questions

Old Reliable 12-16-2002 11:07 PM

black holes consume everything, it is a riff in space, they have been known to slowly consume entire nova stars until they explode

it is difficult to fathom this, but when you look into the sky today, most of the stars no longer exist or have changed dramatically

12-16-2002 11:09 PM

dman i so want to put that captain obvious pic up

Of course. Since most of those stars are millions and millions of light years away, it takes time for the light to hit the earth.

Its the same thing with the sun. The light from the sun does not reach earth for 7 or 11 minutes (can't remember which) after it has left.

Old Reliable 12-16-2002 11:13 PM

this stuff is so freaking amazing.....I wish I had time to learn everything oOo:

this stuff is the shizznit

In response to the original question:

"If so you think you could build one in year and I could test it? Cause I am sick of all this modern day crap so yeah help me if you can."

I doubt it.

intrestedviewer 12-16-2002 11:18 PM

Yes there is a speed faster than light. It is called LUDICROUS SPEED.

Airborne Butters 12-16-2002 11:19 PM

pftttttt. Who needs the worlds brightest minds? We got somtin better! AA.com crew.

This "Time Machine" will be called the "S.S. n00b"

Unless we built a time machine whenever, say in 50 years and went back in time to a year from now...then you could have it and try it!

pAt|2i0T 12-16-2002 11:28 PM

Could you bring back George Washington and make America a LB?
Liberal States? biggrin:

12-16-2002 11:29 PM

but that sucks. cause the germs from the future will get back to the old days and kill everyone

Bucknub 12-16-2002 11:29 PM

[quote:e1c5a]Could you bring back George Washington and make America a LB?

only if it was possible to build a time machine WHICH IT AINT

Old Reliable 12-16-2002 11:30 PM

also I don't think you can specify which year, or location you will return to, unless you do near infinite revolutiions around the earth

SoLiDUS 12-16-2002 11:34 PM

The possibility IS there, but don't count on it. If time is linear, forget about
it: instant paradox. If, however, there are multiverses, you could've simply
travelled to universe B or C, get it ? Michael Crichton's TIMELINE is a pretty
good book that deals with just that.

Time travelling to the future is very much a reality; you do it every night!
SLEEP.

biggrin:

Old Reliable 12-16-2002 11:37 PM

I was waiting for Solidus to reply....if time can bend then there could be universes that exist on a different plane of time than we do...but how would we know?? hmm....

ninty 12-16-2002 11:38 PM

Hehe, I was waiting for his reply also.

I saw he was online and knew he was gonna like this one.

12-16-2002 11:40 PM

isnt it in multi universe theory the outcome of an event is always the same?

Old Reliable 12-16-2002 11:41 PM

yeah so that means germ will always be gay! :(

Bucknub 12-16-2002 11:44 PM

fuck this post has really expanded

If they're all the same...

It depends on your view of the world too: do you hold that our world is
totally deterministic in nature, or that free will exists for conscious entities?

It's one of those interesting subjective topics...

EDIT: When I say deterministic, I refer to those that believe the initial
conditions totally determine the outcome of the universe, meaning that
although you THINK you were thinking, you really aren't: the initial rules
determined that it would happen that way and no matter how much you
think you are "choosing", you aren't biggrin:

That's determinism for ya...

Bucknub 12-16-2002 11:50 PM

argh..... too much thinking ......my brain is straining oOo:
