Yeah, call me a cock because I have a valid point and you dont - I dont think AZNAC day had such an impact on the world as DNA, do you? Was it so signifigant to every person on the planet earth? DNA affected the whole world. I never even heard of AZNAC day until yesterday.

04-25-2003 07:01 PM

anzac is more like memorial day, its not an aniversary of one set even, its a day of remembrance

April 15th, 1915 - ANZAC Forces are deployed along the Gallipoli peninsula, you ignorant fag. It's not a significant day in US history, but it's a significant day in history.
Well, Following Vance's lead, I'm officially declaring Independance Day an insignificant crock, because it doesn't involve me oOo:

Let me tell you something, Robinson Crusoe was one of the most best selling books of ALL TIME. Almost everybody in the world knows what Robinson Crusoe is. It was also made into a movie that won countless awards. Now go up to your average guy in Canada, America, or the UK and ask himwhat the hell AZNAC day is and he will probably stare at you with a blank face.

Oh, and fuck off you stereotypical peice of shit bastard.

WOOT.

Let me qualify what i'm saying; Vance seems to be a part of the Vocal minority that makes America seem like an insular, ignorant nation to the rest of the World. I'm not saying that ALL Americans are like that, just a few, but, like any vocal minority, they tend to get the attention.

May I ask how many people think that DNA was discovered in America?

Tripper 04-26-2003 03:19 PM

[quote="Fluffy_Bunny":baf2d]May I ask how many people think that DNA was discovered in America?[/quote:baf2d]

Wasn't it discovered in the U.K?

I think it's somewhere in Europe....?

Ydiss 04-26-2003 04:05 PM

Not sure where it was discovered, but my take on it is that, whilst the discovery of DNA is significant as it opens up all new areas of science that were never previously touched, let's not go over-board.

DNA is significant but it was significant before humans were even created and it's no more or less significant now we know how it works.

And the day we are eliminated from existence DNA will continue on without us.

So, humans "discovering" it is only significant to some people who think it is significant. To a lot of people it means jack.

Just like ANZAC day is significant to Australians and New Zealanders, and Indipendance day significant to Americans and my birthday significant to me.

I wouldn't expect anyone to find my birthday significant.

But then I wouldn't expect an Australian to find ANZAC day insignificant.

A little respect and decorum didn't hurt anyone.

Natch.

I agree with you. The point I was trying to get across is that ANZAC day is not that important of a date in historic terms. Just like Memorial Day or Veterans Day here in the US is not a signifigant day in history, but it is a signifigant day for Americans in emotional spirit. The reason why is because it does not qualify as a signifigant say in history because it is just a day for rememberance. Maybe Tripper or Wilkins did not see my point as I saw it and misunderstood.
