Like I said, I worked in DC for 5 years and was routinely inconvenienced by these protestors. We used to go down and watch (from a distance). The bottom line is that these "protestors" (more like anarchists if you ask me) are well organized and the only goal is to disrupt the business at hand and to incite the police. Fuck 'em.

Chill. This isn't Tianamen Square we're talking about here. If anything I think the cop was acting on insinct. He saw some guy step up, and he did what was natural. I would probably do the same in that situation. It's not my place to say if it was excessive or not, but it sure looked (and sounded) effective.
