I do data entry at a for-profit university. I started off as a temp last September making $12 an hour and now that im a perm, i make $13 doing the same shit. I enter leads for marketing. Basically, prospective students (leads) mail in surveys, questionaires and other shit that my company sends out, to inquire about what programs and classes we have. I enter in the leads info into our companys database so that a rep can call them and try to hook em. Its boring and unrewarding work, but since it involves no interraction with anyone or phonework, i can use my headphones the entire time im there. have a couple of cds with 12 hours of stand up comedy on each, so i come in, pop in some music or standup and type all day long until i go home. not too bad, but i would give both nuts to get my job at Sony back.

I am currently a metal finisher. I made the mistake of not going to college, so now I'm stuck doing this. Basically I take a metal handle or door hinge(ones you'll find on the front doors of fancy buildings, or any place with glass doors) and take it from a raw stage to a mirror finish. I mainly do the hinges for shower doors. I work on a machine which looks like a bench grinder, but much much larger..and more dangerous.

It's dirty job and it sucks ass. But we've done things for people like Micheal Jordan, Bill Gates and MTV etc.. Heck, I've even done a set of hinges for Chevy Chase myself. I guess that is one cool thing about it, but I'd much rather have a degree and a better job.
