Don't blow things out of proportion. The only thing that was proposed that would shoot the scores up that high would be a 4 man line and that isn't happening.

they would have a chance in Toronto...If Toronto makes the playoffs it guarentees the Senators won't win the cup because they couldn't beat us if God himself was helping them

Anyways...Chris Pronger won't make Edmonton a contender...they needed Gretzky and Messier for that...and ever since it has been down hill.

Nyck 08-03-2005 02:07 PM

Naslund stays in Vancouver
Kovalev stays in montreal who also sign Dandenault
Penguins sign Sergei Gonchar

Niedermayer decision could come today
New Jersey is believed to be offering a deal worth $6.8-million a season. Vancouver, Detroit, Calgary and Pittsburgh are also said to be in the mix.

Other rumors have Brian Leetch going to Detroit

Leetch signed with the bruins

Nyck 08-03-2005 04:27 PM

Edmonton Oilers' general manager Kevin Lowe has struck again, making his third trade in as many days, this time acquiring forward Michael Peca from the New York Islanders in exchange for forward Mike York and a conditional draft choice.

Satan also signed with the Islanders

no, but my friend is a capitals fan. When the Caps and the Pens were in the playoffs in 2001, I didn't want the Caps to go anywhere, so I chose against them that they would lose to the Pens in a hundred doller bet. I won, and then he bet that they wouldn't beat the Sabres. I won again. I just followed them ever since.

I like eliminating the Red line, and the no tie games rule, but you can't change every fucking factor. I don't want games to be 17 to 12 and shit like that. How are goalies supposed to break old records if they're expanding the crease and whatknot.[/quote:5c2de]

If you knew what you were talking about you would know that the NHL had the tag up offside through out the 90's.

Tag up offsides is great. I love it and it should have never been taken out of the game. Tag up offside will not impact the score generally. All it does is keep the game flowing. Instead of a whistle and faceoff, the play will allow to continue.

ninty 08-03-2005 07:04 PM

maybe you guys should realize that what you're going through now is what edmonton, calgary, phittsburgh and other small market teams have been going through for 10 years.

Go look to an Edmonton fan for sympathy and see what you get: Curtis Joseph to toronto, Doug Weight to St. Louis. Every good player Edmonton has ever had has left because they can't pay them what other teams can.

Now they get the chance to actually sign some palyers. Everyone would have laughed if you said Pronger to Edmonton a year ago. Everyone should get a chance, and now they actually do.

The teams that have an excess of talent have to get rid of some to free up cap room. Teams that have had shitty players forever since they can't afford good players now have a chance.

I might sound a little harsh, but to the people in Toronto, Detroit, Philly, Dallas, NY, Colorado and St. Louis I say tough shit.

Im sure it also has to do with them wanting to win a Cup. Why would a Top name player stay at a team that has no chance of winning Stanley.
When he would sign with a team like Detroit or Colorado and have a shot at it. Sure lots of these teams are fucked now. Now instead of Two or Three teams having a Roster full of Superstars. Every team is going to have two or three big names. I dont see one team now that is stack, Well other than Philly . Anyone could win the cup this year, Maybe even Toronto.

i like it personally. maybe some unknown will stand out form the 3rd line and have a breakout season. even playing field will make for fierce battles as everyone has a wide open shot to win Lord Stanley's cup!

Its insane the amount of energy Pittsburgh has for the Pens this season. I feel like i'm back in 1991. This season could rejuvinate the Pittsburgher's "Steeler's or Bust" persona and bring back hockey the way it used to be. Even better, we might get some arena deals out of this.

well you just got a new stadium for the steelers and a new one for the pirates , so i dont see the pens getting a new arena , but it might happen if mario can work some magic in the boardroom like he did on the ice.

It has nothing to do wiht the country the team resides in, it has everything to do with a city that can support the team residing there

Columbus < Quebec. period. (For being able to support a team hockey wise)

That was many years ago. We just passed legislation for legalized (limited) gambling which will bring in revenue for the community. I believe if the Pens do well in the next year a vote for a new stadium will pass in city council.

You have to agree with the Canuck on this one any Canadian city is going to be more into hockey than a lot of US cities.
