80% of New Orleans under water, some portions under as much as 20 feet. ed:

They're telling evacuees not to go back anytime soon because of an influx of poisonous snakes, fire ants, sewage, and toxic chemicals.

[DAS REICH] Blitz 08-30-2005 06:12 AM

i heard there are warnings of floating coffins uprooted from cemetaries as a result of the water... that's disturbing......

Colonel 08-30-2005 06:17 AM

They should shoot a few looters. Never ceases to amaze me that folks will prey off of the misery of others. It's bad enough your house gets a wall or two knocked down, but then some arsehat comes in and steals your stuff. That's why my father-in-law will never evacuate. (they live in Mobile, AL) He's never as worried about the storm as he is the looters.

I say shoot first ask questions later.
Blitz":2ccb3]i heard there are warnings of floating coffins uprooted from cemetaries as a result of the water... that's disturbing......[/quote:2ccb3]

That's probably true, but in that part of the country, they don't bury the dead anyway. All cemetaries in NO have cripts because they are below sea level. They can't bury the dead or a flood such as this would cause the coffins to make their way above ground.

As for the looters, yeah, I agree shoot the dirty bastards.

dr nein 08-30-2005 07:56 AM

Looting is only acceptable in war as demonstrated by video games.

Yep. Strange. Tornados do wierd crap too...like rip the front door off of a house but leave a broom propped up against a wall on the front porch just a few feet away.

On the topic of looting, I find it ironic how stupid people looting a few hundred dollars worth of stuff is more important to everyone than something like this:

http://money.cnn.com/2005/08/26/news/ec ... /index.htm

or Enron and Worldcom along with hundreds of other corporations that funnel and steal funds.

Seems like to me it's capitalism at its finest to create huge corporations and steal money, but when people in a disaster struck area loot, it's time to shoot them all.

[DAS REICH] Blitz 08-30-2005 07:45 PM

On CNN they said people are looting from the casino ships off the coast that crashed onto land during the Hurricane.

I can empathize with the people looting for basic essentials (food, drinks, clothing, diapers, even siphoning gas) after all, there is no where for them to buy it legitimately. What gets me, is seeing the savages running out of jewelry stores and sporting goods stores with big smiles on their faces. These people are capitalizing on one of the lowest moments in US history. I'm not sure why this bothers me so much, but my sense is that it bothers anyone with a shred of decency.

EDIT: Just heard that a looter shot a police officer in the head. What else is there to say?

ninty 08-30-2005 08:33 PM

Fair enough. I can agree with that. I guess my point was to show that a lot more money is being wasted and stolen, but it doesn't seem to generate much news.

that's so sad

tomxtr 08-30-2005 10:08 PM

They are saying that it will continue to get worse until the levees are fixed. The water from the lake continues to flow into the city unchecked.

RaNgeR 08-30-2005 10:15 PM

Absolutely horrible, I caught alot of the Hurricane on CNN (which my mom watches nonstop).

Jin-Roh 08-30-2005 10:27 PM

Hurricane Katrina is a terrorist organization, you nubs. rolleyes:

Unknown_Sniper 08-30-2005 10:31 PM

I got some info from the guy I know down there. In the superdome alone there has been 2 shootings, many rapes, beatings, and a couple deaths. Two gun men with AK-47's opened up on a police station, There are hundreds if not thousands of bodies floating in the streets of some of the worse parts of the city. The news obviously isnt showing this but from what I hear it is horrible.

Short Hand 08-30-2005 10:33 PM

Shootings and raping in the dome itself? WTF? EXPLAIN

Unknown_Sniper 08-30-2005 11:43 PM

Himmler 08-31-2005 12:11 AM
I dont live down there. He heard this from a friend with a police scanner.[/quote:3b31f]

now since New Orleans is destroyed, lets take guesses as to wehre the Saints and Hornets will play... I say San Juan dance:

New Orleans is fucked. Maybe thousands dead, and a lot of people are going to die without food or water. This could take 3-6 months to clear up, and people are staying evacuated for 12-16 weeks. AND WTF are they only black people that didn't leave their homes. I haven't seen one white person through all the live video i've seen on CNN

New Orleans is like 70% black to begin with. Also, it was predominately the poor who didn't have the means to leave.

CoMaToSe 08-31-2005 02:52 PM

New Orleans: now known as cholera land

Short Hand 08-31-2005 03:39 PM
