I'd recommend Collapse but I fell asleep a few times reading it...Guns, Germs and Steel was a page turner because of the high level of information put in it...

Quake 3 also got low reviews for a lot of sites and magazines when it was released, didn't stop it from being the most played deathmatch game for years after its release. I don't bother that much with reviews these days anyway, theyre ok as a guide but its really other peoples opinion of a game that can very easily differ from your own opinion. Why basically let someone else tell you if you like a game or not?

After watching the Single player video you posted I thik I might to go over to EBgames later this week and pick me up a copy. It looks good.

As for the reviews I only look at them to make sure I'm not wasting money on a POS.

... dont care much about sp anyway.

SP doesn't look that great in that vid and a lot of people that have it, say that it's not that great.

A lot complaints from squad combat, a long with other things. They say it doesn't feel very Quake-like.

Although everyone seems to love the MP, well the Q3 fans anyway.




So unless you're buying it for the MP, you may want to pass.

And you base all this on what 4 mins of footage?

The game doesn't look like doom 3, even that outdoor and trench area looked nothing like what doom 3 had. Did doom 3 have squad combat and vehicles? Nope.

Sound effects might differ depending on the enemy you are facing, for all we know the sound in those vids is an "alert" kind of sound effect. You can't understand what theyre saying, later in the game you can so it'll make more sense then.

As for the squad combat, from what ive read the squad members do a lot of damage when you get in large scale battles just that paticular piece of video the other guy was doing most of the killing .

Mindlesly killing? Its an fps game with objectives to complete, you expect to run upto alien\robot hybrids that are built for war and ask if they would mind talking it over? Yeah im sure a game like that would sell millions. oOo:
