I'd say that makes them qualified to establish which types of computers are better for what. They wouldn't waste the money if it wasn't for a reason.

Just to let you know, when the g4 luanched, the NEAREST competing pc product out at the time was something in the range of p3 500mhz... your comparision is from a different time. PC's have far exceeded that since then. While macs are forced to run daul cpu systems to play catch up. Your comparision.. let me say this again.. IS COMPLETELY outdated. This coming from a mac user. I would take a mac over a pc anyday when it comes ot video editing, but when it comes to anything else......PC > Mac. (and if I HAD THE MONEY I WOULD TAKE daul opterons over the mac g5 solution, being as daul opterons (880's) can run youinto the 6k range cpu's alone......[/quote:4c562]

I was saying that they are better for editing. Beleive me, I like PCs a lot more but I think that macs have some cool stuff to them that are benefits over PCs but PCs can do a lot more for a lot less.

Michael 11-27-2005 09:57 PM

what do macs have that would benefit mac users over pc users pray tell? ed:

the editing programs are pretty damn leet. The one program that I used last year in highschool for audio mixing was awesome.

Michael 11-27-2005 10:00 PM

audio programs and editng tools are also plentifully available for pc users. next...

you really need to try them out. There are editing programs on the mac that are so much better. It's like trying to compare paint to PS.

Michael 11-27-2005 10:41 PM

ok...what programs? i'd try them just to see the differences. i have 2 pc's here and a mac. all 3 comps have high specs and similar programs. what i've noticed was that on the mac, security wasn't so much of an issue....and the pc's had better performance and didn't cost thousands of dollars.

edit: another point. It goes to show you how not one of those programs are exceptionally better than the others. If one was really nice, then you wouldn't have 1,001 different programs.

all those programs specialize in different things. but to counter your point anyways, the PC has 1001 times as many developers of programs, there are many greta options for your needs. Its great apple has one program that works form most people, but I'd always choose more options over that.

vector > bitmap

but seriously, there are more options for PC but the Mac options are often times better. EX: FinalCut Pro was used to make LOTR because it is better than the PC competitors.

Weta, an offshoot of Peter Jackson's Wingnut Films, expects to create and manage nearly 100 terabytes of information during the production of over 1200 visual effect shots needed for the films.

The sheer volume of data movement each day, with many files in excess of 1Gb, creates major technical challenges.

That's exactly what I'm saying, they are good at different things, macs are good at editing and PCs are better for other things like gaming, rendering, things that need more power. I was just trying to give an example of something that macs are good at to the people who are trying to say PCs are better in every way shape and form.
