I'm pretty much doing most of that Trunks. I've actually just basically cut out breakfast and lunch. I only really eat dinner, and I keep that light, like no steaks or pork, just grilled chicken and such of that nature. I never really eat sweets myself.

I really want to whip myself into shape as soon as I can though. Someone even reccomended jogging on a treadmill with a trash bag on oOo:

I can't really jog that long either at the moment, but I usually jog, then walk a little, then jog some more.[/quote:4056f]cool. I wish you luck butters. I admire your determination.

Nyck 01-12-2006 07:17 PM

Youll lose weight fast by jogging with a trash bag on, unforunantly it will just be water out of your body and not fat though.

Miscguy 01-12-2006 07:26 PM

Then you end up dehydrated and under proforming since your body does things then, you dont want. Drink plenty of water, no sodas, or really anything but water. Caffine is now your enemy, as is sugar.

Airborne Butters 01-12-2006 07:38 PM

yeah my friend who reccomended that said his cousin did it for wrestling, where you have to drop and add pounds every week.

I've started a strict no soda thing though, just water basically. I sometimes have a glass of apple or orange juice. I've pretty much got the exercise part down, it's the diet. I hear many things from people who were like 'I got skinny by just not eating' then I hear from others 'I ate 6 small meals a day to get my metabolism going'.

Airborne Butters 01-12-2006 07:45 PM

also, not trying to half ass or get suckerd in, but what about like weight loss pills or like metabolism boosters? Basically something to almost 'eat' the fat?

Nyck 01-12-2006 07:51 PM

All these supplements are going to you a heart attack.

mostly lose water weight/sugars, and you get really dehydrated. I had a Marine in my platoon in MOS who took that shit and passed out on a few runs, when it comes down to it it's not good for you. I'd recommend just doing it the "right" and healthy way and lose the weight naturally... eat right and exercise and you are bound to lose it.. just don't get lazy and slack off. If I were you I'd be doing AT LEAST 10+ pull ups, 80 crunches and running a descent 3 miles before going to boot camp man. You'll just be the platoon bitch if you go to boot out of shape..... YES they do still mark you in boot camp if you're out of shape/ heavy set... you get half rations and you get a pretty two white lines on your green t-shirt... basically a mark of death, you'll get hazed all day.
I plan on joining law enforcment, and since Marines have a higher chance of getting in and better "connections" this is something I've wanted to do for a while. [/quote:f72fd]

Much respect! beer:

damn Zap, that's almost a little discouraging, but I'll see. Seeing as how fast I can lose this, I'm hoping to sign up about summerish.

This seems stupid, but how exactly do you do a crunch? The way the guy described em was like you you bring your knee's about mid, then cross your arms on your chest and kind of meet mid-par in a sense...do I have this correct or is it just basically a situp?

That's about it. In a "sit-up" you keep your feet on the floor, knees bent and you raise all the way off the floor until your chest hits your knees. A crunch is a shorter movement. You raise your knees until your thighs are perpenticular (sp?) to the floor and then you raise your shoulders off the floor and "crunch" your abdominals. BTW - Butters, if you have never done these, or any type of exercise, I highly recommend joining a health club and getting one of their guys to show you how to do all of these types of exercises. Also, go buy a fitness magazine. Almost every one of them have ab execises in there every month. This month's Runner's World has five very good ab exercises illustrated and explained.

To do crunches in the Marines your elbows have to touch your thighs. A trick is to pull your fuckin legs as FAR into your ass as possible. And make sure your shoulder blades come off of the ground. But as long as your fore arms touch your thighs your good. Like i said pull your legs in tight otherwise you are wasting energy.

Whatever you decide to do mang, good luck with it. I'm looking into joining the reserves sometime this month (bday), and possibly the marines in the future.. It's something I've always wanted to do, heh. Can't think of a better reason than that.

Simo Häyhä 01-13-2006 09:58 PM

Yeah butters, good luck. I myself have been seriously contemplating the National Guard.

Fucking private training and licenses = 12000$. No thanks, pay ME to learn how to do it. :)

The USAF doesn't have any choppers. You'd have to go to the Army/Navy for that.

PS Butters, I know the USAF standard for a mile and a half run is 11:47, so you know the Marines' is less than that.
