God hates Italians.
Seriously though, hard to diagnos. Motherboard, PSU, maybe you unplugged something. |

i figured out the problem. im thinking one of the cables contracted and loosened itself. i opened it up and tightened everything now she boots up no problem. damn thing had me scared for a while |

Would take those things to be nitrogen cooled and have their clock speeds doubled to be anywhere approaching decent. biggrin: Btw, are those blocks of staples masquerading as ram sinks? eek: |
Yeah they are. I couldn't find copper ones like this once guy at oc forums has em. Although they did quite well the oc on that card got me I think 1000 more points on 3dmark 03. But Its still not bad as an mx4000 now those things are bad!
|
i had an mx series card and a fx series card and they both sucked. now i'm at an x800pro and will be oc it when my Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer VGA cooler gets here.

this part?
No, it doesn't unfortunatley. Would be nice to be able to flash the bios and have an easy fix to an xt, but I was stupid. Shitty decision on my part because i ahve an agp card and now thats pretty much obsolete. I should ahve pitched the extra $ for an xt at the time, or if i had known, a vivo so i could fix it to be an xt. Looks like oc is the only way to go for me. I was using ati tool to oc it with the stock fan on the chipset but temps were super high. 90-95C, so i'm hoping the vga coler will bring that down so i can get a good oc on it. i'm also going to do my 3500+. i got the ac freezer pro and that thing works great. when it was colder out i was getting 45C with load. right now unfortunatley i'm idle at around 40C because its so hot in my room because its 30C outside and we have no air conditioning. so i might have to wait or just make sure when i oc i don't get into to high temps. but before i replaced the stock heatsink and fan i was in the 60's on the 3500+. amazing what replacing the stock one can do. |

Temps with my cards are pretty high as well, the x1900's idle at around late 50's to early 60's and can load upto 95c and thats with no overclocking. ed:
|
really? you don't need oc anyway with two x1900's in crossfire...bastard happy:
i'm gonna try to hold out a year or two to build another rig. DX10 crossfire and all that jazz. even my current rig is not all that bad. still will play pretty much everything out there. plays lost coast pretty well also. |
whats the difference between DX10 and DX9, are there screenshots to show the difference between DX10 cards.

One of the benefits of dx10 is reduced overhead Basically so tihngs get done faster, theres an article on it here with slides from an ati presentation. http://www.ukgamer.net/index.php4?actio ... 322&page=1 When the cards come available it seems ati will have the uppperhand, their card is going to have unified shaders which means that if the card has 64 pipelines they can be swapped around dynamicaly for geometry, pixel shading and texturing. So for example if a scene in a game uses a lot of texture horsepower and not much of the other 2 then more of the pipelines can basically become texturing pipelines to improve performance. Cards today are limited to predefined pipeline numbers and they can't be dynamically altered. Ati already has done the r500 which is in the xbox 360 based on the unified pipeline design so when the r600 comes they'll already be a step ahead of nvidia. |
gerv it's rumored that the r600 is gonna be scrapped now that ati and amd merged. read it on toms the other day but of course it's only a rumor..
|
No way the r600 will be scraped, thats ati's next big thing. it'll probably have similar impact to the radeon 9700.

hey i just re did my freinds dads pc. and two things i cant figure out. 1 there is no sound what so ever. i checked the sound options thing in control panel and it says there is no audio device or something. but i did install the sound driver.2 i installed a warzed copy of xp pro and it keeps poping up saying that it is stolen more or less and asks if he wants to genuine it, so i was wondering if there was a way to bypass that shit. thanks in advance
|
do you know if the sound card is on the motherboard or an add-on (PCI card)? if it’s an add-on you may need to enable it in the BIOS, probably under a heading like "Integrated peripherals" etc. Don't know about the other issue
oh, and lunch is delicious today: http://www.miyos.com/miyomenum3.html (C1) |

AC ATI Silencer 4 for my x800 Pro.
Get this, before when I ran ATI Tool for OC I was getting 96C max core temp. Guess what it is with this bad boy? A cool 56C. 40C difference! That is incredible. Getting some decent OC numbers too. Default is 475/450 and I will be able to OC to around 535/560. Will have to run 3d mark to see the diff. I will be doing some wire management soon also when my sleeving gets here, so it's a little bit of a mess in there, but i've definetly seen worse. |
Looking to sell a laptop in a bit and would like to totally wipe and clean out the HD, not just a simple reformat but where no info can be pulled from it.
Anyone have suggestions of any free programs that do this? Thanks |
i dont have any suggestions, but the best thing you can do is get a program that will format, write the drive til full then reformat. This rewriting is what will make thing next to impossible to retreive. the downside to this is...i havent seen a program like this in YEARS. atleast on that can operate under its own capacity.
