If I had an addition $100 to spend I would have but I dont. I didnt even put buying a new computer into my yearly plans and for someone like me who makes very little money and lives off of essentials and very few luxuries I think this is a very nice system for the price I did end up having to pay for it.

It is all kinds of awesome. |
I need to get a HDTV, i think im gonna get a Flat tube (nein flat panel, way to much money) in a 30" by samsung.

I do, but no xbox live.... yet... Im new to consoles for shooters having done very little with them. Im playing through GRAW, and Dead rising to get used to controls and then im going to go online.
The side panel is off cause during the summer it got really hot in there. I figured why put it back on. |
ok so i got my widescreen lcd today and am having trouble with the display.
Now the resolution it should be running at is 1400x900, which i can set through the catalyst taskbar shortcut thing where i "set desktop area to" the said resolution and its all fine and dandy. but when i run a game and set the resolution onto 1280x800 as that is as far as it will go for me in game which works all fine, but when i quit the game the resolution of my desktop is now 1280x800 and is half way off the screen. Now it doesnt allow me to choose the 1400x900 option on standard display properties through windows, but is there a way to set this as permenant resolution? eeeeeeeeee |

when would be a good time to upgrade my PC
My Spec’s Right now: - Intel Pentium 4 650 3.4GHz 800FSB 2MB L2 Cache LGA775 - ASUS P5AD2 Deluxe motherboard - 2Gig Corsair XMS2 DDR2 675MHz 4-4-4-12 TWIN2X1024-5400C4PRO - Sapphire Radeon X850XT - Audigy 2 sound card When are the DX10 cards coming out, and should i wait untill then? |
Just pop a C2D in there for now and you will get a huge performance increase i think, i know i did.
|
So yeah I'm going to be building a computer soon, or my friend is actually. What kind of specs would you recommend for high end gaming? I want to be able to run alot of the new upcoming games, plus BF2,BF2142,HL2,Fear,etc... with smoothness. I'm ready to drop like 1,000 bucks on it, but I don't want to over spend. Oh and keep in mind a flashy case isn't that big a deal, and sound cards don't need to be super top line , seeing as I use headphones.
Also, seeing as I haven't really built a computer, what and how exactly does dual processors work? |

I miss my tree sitty :(

Hyperthreading did the same basic thing but split the processors speed between the two task. Dual core chips have two (or now core 2 duo "4") CPU's effectivly doubling/quadrupling there processing ability, (note: not speed). Its not a SLI setup for your CPU. It simple lets you run multiple "Threads". Threads for all intents and purposes are individual task. Such as say running Winrar on a file, and having Photoshop running. Both require a thread, some programs require many. Normally the CPU puts each thread in a que, running them based user priority. Multiple CPUs means differant program threads can use differant cores, thus speeding up response time. Since when you switch between programs the computer no longer has to swtich priority. Theres the basics... pretty damn basic really... but here. [url:acc5f]http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2846[/url:acc5f] |
Not sure if I should grease or WD40 the casters? Any suggestions?

- Intel P4 650 - 3.4GHz 2MB - LGA775 - ASUS P5AD2-E Deluxe Motherboard - Sapphire Radeon X850XT 256MB VIVO - Corsair XMS2 DDR2 PRO (4x512MB) DDR2 675MHz 4-4-4-12 - Audigy 2 soundcard - OCZ ModStream 520W Modular ATX Power Supply |
Hmm might be better off waiting and get a new cpu and mobo first, i doubt that p4 would get the best out of the x1950. 2.4ghz core 2 duo would run it pretty well, faster than amd's top of the line cpu by a good bit.

you know of a link that will compare my cpu now to the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600? |
