Why would THAT disappoint you? The White Stripes?!?! I listen to good music, remember?

The White Stripes can go pack sand up their arse. Fucking talentless potzers.

wow.... have you EVER actually heard them... eh, i'm wasting my time here

i suppose he should just try to play highpitched as fast as he can no matter how crappy it sounds

THOSE are guitar players...not Jack White. He's just an asshat who holds a guitar while looking like a dork.

way to avoid the question

No, that's not it at all. I've been a guitar player for 17 years and over that time I've come to appreciate a whole spectrum of players from Chet Atkins to Buddy Guy to Pat Metheny to Tom Morello to Joe Satriani.

I can spot guitar prowess, I mean pure guitar virtuosity, pretty innately by now...and my friend, Jack White is not a great guitar player.

well i respect your musically-experienced opinion, as long as you've actually heard him. but i, and i also play guitar (clearly not for 17 years), do think he's one of the best.... i have to go to class now

I s'pose that's good enough for me. Fill your boots with that stuff if that's what gets yer pecker hard.

It's not my cup of tea at all.

Even if you like the White Stripes...Jack white is not even CLOSE to EVER being regarded one of the best.

of all time, of course not... but of people and living and still playing well today, he's definately one of the best (and this thread has nothing to do with best of all time... it says best in the world). I'm not going to make any claims that Jack White is better then Hendrix or Page or any of the other legends, but of his generation he is the best.

and if you think this is just my opinion, go pick up any copy of nearly any respected music magazine... spin, rolling stone, whatever...

guarnere 02-04-2004 05:46 PM

Not even in the top 150,000...ive heard local kids play guitar better than him.

bwolf 02-04-2004 05:51 PM

MrLevinstein 02-04-2004 06:34 PM

Theyre drunk off their asses but those guys could riff. Scott Ian is not forgotten.

It's like rappers doing "freestyle" battles: they have hundreds of rhymes
already prepared and they just try to mix'n'match appropriately and hope
it falls into place properly. Your guitarist probably experimented with many
different combinations and added them up together in an sensical order.

Still, it takes a lot of talent to do it so props to them! rock:

Ahahaha, im sorry but you're wrong. Trey does stuff on the top of his head. Phish is a jam band, thats what they do, they improvise.

For the idiots in the crowd, the guitarists i posted were:
John Petrucci (Dream Theater)
Steve Vai
Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, and Steve Vai
and Trey (im not gonna attempt to spell his last name) from Phish.

ANGUS YOUNG WAS A TERRIBLE GUITARIST. I cant STAND him.

And yea, Mr. Levinstien, Hetfield and Mustaine were pretty awesome rhythm guitarists.
My friends band just covered metal songs with his band at the Battle of the Bands at my highschool. They covered:
Megadeth-Rust in Peace...Polaris
Black Sabbath-Fairies with Boots
Led Zeppelin-Black Dog
Metallica-Master of Puppets

They've played plenty of shows at clubs, I've seen them multiple times. They've covered:
Iron Maiden- The Trooper
Slayer- Seasons in the Abyss, Raining Blood
Black Sabbath- War Pigs, Paranoid
Jimi Hendrix-Fire
plus 3 originals which kick ass.

every note of all those songs. My friend (lead/rhythm guitar) who is a sophomore in highschool has been playing since he was 5, thats 10 years, he is amazing.

with all that said, i hate ignorant people.
