The Beatles...no doubt. I personally think Metallica's influence on modern rock has been for the worse.

both are so different... Beatles get the innovation points... Metallica gets the Metal Up Your Ass! points... so i dunno, cliff burton owns, but the beatles are classic...

I'm sorry about the Slipknot part though, and Metallica is overated live.

Yes I have. Hammet is one of the msot overated guitarists on the planet, Lars is a sub par drummer...the list goes on.

Newsted was awesome, though. I saw him live when he toured with Voivod/Ozzy last year. He's a great showman.
