you know it. i know i will be happy with my iPod. doesnt take much to make me happy, i just want my music on the go. |
[quote="Short Hand":d7afe]nope. My amp over heats after about 1 hour of use in hot weather in my trunk while its pumping out its full rated power. (1200 peak) = 800 mono 4ohm on mine. To me for a block amp with no fans that is pretty danm good. + give it 5 mins to kool and its good to go again, or i just keep my ac/windows down and the thing is fine.
The point is Sony's First gen of car equipement was complete garbage, the subs and amps did what the title claimed, xplod. But their newer gen stuff is fantastic, (except speakers), even there 15 inch polygon sub gives out great bass for its rather cheap price, of course the mainstream store shit is no wear near that of a kicker Square panal sub, or a Rackmount Audiobahn amp, but it is still some of the best in its class, or at least to me a lot better then pioneer, JVC/Panasonic, Rockford, kenwood etc. Their current entry level decks are fantastic, while i find the mid range sony decks complete shit, and Higher range, such as the MP 80 & 70 have fantastic performance. The only thing i would avoid is their speakers. Sony just has a stupid flag over it ever since their first gen stuff was complete crap, well I say do you blame them ? It was their first year of stuff. Since then it has been nothing but great performance.(Note their amps have just recently become more suitable. Their speakers are still shit.) Ill also say this, Pioneer's is always crap, their top end decks audio quality is poor as shit and the pre outs are pitiful. Its all fucking pizaa with the Organic LEd screen. thats all. If I had a choice and money wasn o object , Blaupunkt + Clarion would be my choice.[/quote:d7afe] So your amp DOES overheat? That is NEVER good happy: Their pentegon subs are much better than their old subs and are actually decent entry level subs as you said. What kind of performance are you talking about with thier decks? I bet Pioneers best decks run circles around Sony's. Pioneer with weak preouts? Bullshit! Well, ok I'll make myself more clear. I am reffering to the Pioneer Premier line. 4 or 5 volt out IIRC. Pitiful? pft... And what about pioneer's decks make for bad SQ? Which decks have you used and with what other components. I'd imagine your other equipment wouldnt do it justice anyways based on you other comments. And display has nothing to do with anything, but I'll point out sony has just as many fancy organic lcd screens or whatever. They have improved, yes, but are not anything near high end. Give me brands that you think are good for sound quality for any components. And if you think kicker or audiobahn then dont even bother replying oOo: |

Infinity. Dual Kicker 15 inch square blocks, 2 2000 watt Rockford Mono Block's, Compition Class Battery & Alternator, Stinger Amp Kit (Pre 0 guage Gold Plated), Sony MP 80 (Last Years Model Deck), Infinity Bevel Tweeters, Professional 10 guage to re wire the car, Sound deading foam/ pads, reinforced glass, 8 cooling fans, built around the amps & custom fibre glass trunk molding. Truth is 90 % of people will never afford this shit, so Sony is a good solution in mny aspects. + kicker = good. The latest future shop compition here was won by a guy with 6 square panals in his caravan.

Infinty is iffy. Their component speakers are nothing special unless you like bleeding ears from their screaming highs.. ughh. Their Perfect line of subs is very good though. When you are talking about kicker's square subs, people usually say solobaric not "square blocks", just so you know :) And what line? L5 or L7? What model rockford amps? $50 says they dont put out 2000 watts, and therefor, you should not refer to them as 2000 watts amps. And what the hell is "pre" 0 guage? I see you have infinty tweets, but what are you using for midbass/midrange? What are you crossing them over with? And what do you mean by reinforced glass and what does that have to do with your system? Unless you are doing 160dB's, you would never need reinforced glass. Learn to fiberglass yourself and you would save tons of money. |

My eclipse amp (unless you call that a super brand) has never overheated, or come close. And I push the hell out of it. It gives 130x2 to my CDT components ASWELL as 400watts to my sub through the use of passive x-overs. Hardly gets hot. |

sooooo a amp in a trunk at 50 + Celcius, with no air ventalation pumping our 800 watts of power + continous bass that most amps in its class are gonna hold out ? My step dads 900 Watt Kenwood gives out, My old Rockford monoblock 1000 watt block amp gave out as well, which is why i took it back. I got this one and it lasts longer in hard heat and performs great. rolleyes: , i hate to say it but any amps juicing out more then 500 watts rms in a heat sink design with out any ventilation such as fans is gonna over heat. or at least give in a little, which happens to mine rarely.
what was the price on that amp aswell. Ill compare it to the price i put on mine. |
The Iriver looks better. but I dont want to pay that much. 250 is plenty enough for me
