When you buy new fish, make sure you keep them in the bag they come in, and put the bag into the water before releasing the fish. Leave it bobbing in the water for 5-10 mins, so the water can gradually warm up. If you just open the bag and chuck them in, the change of water temperature can give them a big shock and end up with them dead.

fish are pretty fun and it gets addicting taking care of them. my only advice is to get freshwater fish, seawater fish are teh suck, too much maintanence. use goldfish at first, they make good testers.

Hell yeah dude, saltwater is so expensive, 50 dolalrs a pop for a fish ffs. saw sea horses today (little ones) for 50 dollars, but those would be worth it cause they are awesome. I'm going freshwater tropical fish.

Yeah, I've got one, it's sitting next to the computer right now. Dunno the size, but tsi bigger than the computer.

For fish, get some cichlids. Smartest fish in the world, they're so cool to watch. Most fish do nothing but swim around, then die, but these guys chase eachother, and they used to rip eachothers tails off but dont anymore... friendlier now. What's real cool is that they pick up pebbles in their mouths and carry them around, the big fish in here has dug a big pit and kinda hangs out in it. They do the same to their babies.

But I swear to god, they play hide and seek, cause sometimes I watch them and (we have 5) they all go up to the surface, save for one guy, then they start swimming in circles up near the surface while the other dude hides under a rock. It's so cool.

And if you do get cichlids (they're from Africa, just so you know, but we got them at Petsfart), get a little black dude to go along with it, he'll eat all the fungus.

Will tetras and Cichlids get along well though?

Also what is the name of the cleaner thing again?

that tank wil not support more then 3 ciclids man, no go there. + ciclids are only aggressive, they get along great with small fish, but have hard times with any decent sized fish, like angels, sword tails ect.

Remember the rule of thumb to keep a tank from over crowidng, 1 inch of fish per gallon.

So no Cichlids for my tank?

I would avoid it, they also like acidic water. (and require a certain type of grass bedding/filter medium to be layed. (that is how they like it)

So what would you recommend for my tank?
