cant setermine my brain
|
ok, i'll try to disprove time for all of you with a few questions.
When was time invented? How was time invented? What was before time? |
so then there's like a big bang and time was created
|
yeah so that means germ will always be gay! :([/quote:fc2b2]
the universe cant change my brain |
Frig.. sometimes I find myself thinking we are all in a big dream and one of these "days" this "person" shall awaken from "its" slumber and all of "mankind" will perish.
|
i donno if anyone watched that show sliders back in the day but i think time travel will be like that.. its sort of like the multiverse thing
what if we're all in the matrix and dont know it *spooky voice* |
Aaw, man...This type of stuff scares me.
|
well there was the "land before time"
|
well there was the "land before time"[/quote:992ba]
Thanks, that is comforting. */me rents movie* |

we can say that the "beginning" of time could be when the big bang occured even though there aren't any precise definitions of what time is. We didn't invent time; we simply devised a way to measure it. Time is special just like gravity is in the sense that we know it's there but can't really expound on it. This doesn't change the fact that motion and events occur, and that there might be possible ways of re-visiting them at a later time biggrin: |
God farted, and started it all.
Well, I’m very bored... And i need another decent post. You have probably heard the term "Big Bang" before when people start to talk about the origins of the universe, but when people tell you that the universe started really small (tinier than a grain of sand) and incredibly dense, and then suddenly expanded to what it is today, things become a little more difficult to grasp. The theory of a Hot Big Bang is the most widely accepted hypothesis for the origin of the universe, but it still leaves many questions unanswered. How and why did the universe expand? What caused the galaxies to form? But, perhaps the most daunting question is: "What existed before the Big Bang?" These are questions that are very difficult to answer. Astronomers are like archeologists who study the fossils of the universe. They form their theories based on what they observe, and luckily Big Bang theory seems to fit rather nicely to these observations. So what happened during the Big Bang? Fuck, I’ll let someone else answer that one. |
All right you smartie pants why don't you build one and tell me when it is done. Then we can prove a point.
|
I know this is offtopic with regards to time travel and all, but this stuff facinates me. I was watching a show on Discovery Science about our galaxy and it's place within the universe. Scientists have witnessed the collision of two galaxies. The photograph they had of it was unreal. They said the two galaxies would pass through each other like a mist, until the two black holes' gravitational pulls would cause them to orbit each other. As this is happening planets are smashing into each other, others are flung far off into space.
What made this even more interesting was the fact that it's going to happen to the Milky Way. They are tracking our sister galaxy and have predicted a collision in hundreds of millions of years. Of course, we won't be here to witness it but could you imagine? You'd be able to see the other galaxy prominently in the sky for quite some time beforehand. The collision would forever change...well...everything...if the Earth survives. The constellations would be gone, the climate would change drastically, the night/day cycle would be disrupted...or we could be smashed to dust by a larger cosmic body or flung into space away from our sun, turning Earth into a lifeless ice cube. What amazes me is the fact that it hasn't happened already. Anyways, sorry for the long offtopic post, but I'm bored at work right now. biggrin: |
Nice post Bane.

ok, i didn't bother reading through all 7 pages of replies, but yes, you can go back in time....today!.
Just hop on a plane and fly west ! Pretty simple ya think? |
From what ive read of "theoretical time travel" they've basically said for it to be possible the time machine would have to exist in the past as well as the present you're in. How the fuck that would work is beyond me. oOo:

This is why many scientists say that time travel to the past cannot be done, on;y the future. At least from what i've read. |
it's impossible to go back in time to the present position you are at
|
what the hell!
if this is true, can you imagine the possibilities of visiting other systems?[/quote:e3f44] that particular topic was on an SG-1 episode yesterday on Sci-Fi. |
I used to watch sliders. That show was great.
|
you can go back in time... there was a book about it... the guy made the time machine in the 18 hundreds. So if some old guy can make one, so can we!
|
Of course you can! Jeeze, THESE guys did it...
biggrin: Zone |
Yeah, If Christoper Lloyd, Michael J Fox, Guy Ritchie, Alex Winter & Keanu Reeves can all go back in time...You'd think we could too! biggrin:
You guys know I'm from the future, right....I'm one day ahead of you. Let me tell you, the 18th of December isn't that great. hake: |
oh you selfish bastard, you've ruined our timeline

[quote:4dbab] oh you selfish bastard, you've ruined our timeline [/quote:4dbab]
LOL...I apologise, Strikor. I just had to let you all know your future. |
Has anyone ever thought about how God came to be? Don't turn this into a religious debate, but I'm sure we can all agree there has to be some "Creator." Who created the Creator?
|
Yeah how come only famous people with money seem to go back in time? I wonder if Gates is ever going to go back in time and make Microsoft in the 1300's or even earlier. ahh All Hail King Gates ahha scary thought hake:

well u cant travel ahead into the future... simply becuz it doesnt exist |

If you travel back in time you come from someone's future. Who is to say that we arent someone else's past? |

Always wondered that! I had to go to this Sunday school thing on weekdays, and the teacher had an answer to all my religous questions, till I asked her "who created God" She came back with some shit like "He's always been there..." but it wasn't good enough answer. It's kinda like "which came first: the chicken or the egg" |

Then by who, and when, and when did this other being or force that created God come into existance? Big bang? And where did the big bang come from? Nothing? Just, Poof, and it all starts? In the absence of anything else, her answer holds up as well as anything else. That is where the faith part of religion comes from. Time is the same way. When did it start? Does it really exist or is it just a concept created by man? Is it really linear? If not, it might be possible to skip from point to point. Who knows? Who can prove it one way or the other? |

But yo can travel into the future because it doe exist at that point.
If you say hit a wormhole, you travel (in theory) at or above the speed of liget. Here either time is accelerated, meaning that when you come out years would have passed, or, that time slows down for you, but since light years are passing, everything else is moving at the same time and speed. Thus when you come out, only minutes ahve passes for you while years have passed for everyone else. See, were not skipping ahead and leaving this wide open space of nothing. Like its the year 2002 and then I go into a time machine and nothing happens until I arive in 2030. Thats simply not true. What is possible is time accelerating or slowing as you reach the speed of light. Remember time only exists if there is space around it. Time is the 4th dimension, the other 3 dimensions wouldn't exist without time and vice versa. Truthfully, no one has the right answer. Your not able to disporve my beliefs and ideas and i can't disprove your's. Don't tell me what can and can't happen. That is for me to decide. |
unless anyone has already asked this,
if you DO manage to get in a black hole and go somewhere, how would you get back? |
a black hole is pure dark matter (or at least i was told)....... my thoughts would be, u would just vapourize

we can all sit and debate on this (time travel, not aimbots) and never reach a correct answer because we simply do not know. however, give me a DMC Delorean and a flux capacitor and i would be willing to give it a try. though i would never give you back the delorean! |
when i was a kid i would have fucked up dreams. dreams of me playing mohaa, dreams of me skateboarding. this was when i was 8 or 7, and they've all come true. like i remember exact details.. and it all comes true. how the fuck can i dream the future when i was a child. thats why i dont even bother thinking of stuff like this, i believe that were just dreams and images. nihilism is ur god
