Um don't think it will work, your mobo is a dfi right?

Edit: just checked its an asus, i know thers adaptors you can get for 20>24 pin, could try one of those. Ive no idea if it'll boot with just 20 pins.

Whats the make and model of the psu?

Forte 03-16-2006 02:29 PM

Oh i see where you're going wrong:

Thats from the newegg pics, that bit circled should be on the same power lead as the 20 pin connector, it just slides into place along 2 little rails.

just check for a small 4 pin connector on the same power cord as the 20 pin, just looks like its not clipped into the rails.

lol I am installing windows, give me a few hours and I will get back to you.

Forte 03-16-2006 03:47 PM

windows installed and running..... but I cant connect to the internet... I have a wireless card in the computer but I dont think that it detects it.

geRV 03-16-2006 04:14 PM

Built into the system? Try runing the driver cd for the motherboard, if it still can't be detected go into device manager and see if it can find any files for it on the net.

ffs get those cables tidied. ed:

Forte 03-16-2006 04:55 PM

Now speaking from the new computer!
I will tidy those cables when I finish doing everything else on the computer. it is really the last thing on my mind right now.

another question. sound isnt coming out of the headphones, and everytime I do something that is supposed to make a sound, the internal speaker thingy just beeps at me. oOo: do I need to install some drivers? I installed everything that came with the mobo.

probably sound drivers ya, check in the device manager for "sound video and games controllers" to see if the drivers are installed.

Forte 03-16-2006 08:31 PM

yeah, I got it all working about an hour ago. but for some reason it recognizes that my microphone is plugged it, but it isnt recieving any sound.
