Wow - you think its the Processor and NOT the mobo? Would the Mobo still boot up if it were the CPU? I dont think its the video-card because I put two AGP cards into the slot and it behaved the same.

Im gonna grab another board from a local retailer (fuck NEWEGG) and see if it boots up. . .

But I didnt do anything to the CPU but move it from the box to the board, and I got no WARNING BEEPS (ill check to make sure I plugged the case speaker in right).

geRV 03-29-2006 03:34 PM

Hard to say what it is really, ive seen this kind of error encountered by either mobo, cpu or gfx card being bad.

TGB! 03-29-2006 03:43 PM

Ok - I thought you were ruling out the MOBO being the problem (which was the only used component).

Hopefully this board:

Will have all the cables I need so I dont need to worry about it being a cable issue, or whatnot. Man I so hate dealing with computer errors and shit like this. I just want to game and be able to watch porn in crystal clear definition.

basically the one i have got hasnt got the red backing but rather a blue one, and pci e power connector i have no idea, is this not the real one then?

plus in dxdiag and through catalyst control center it only says x800gto on the menu, not x800gto2? any ideas?

geRV 04-02-2006 02:49 PM

Id send it back if i were you, thats a regular x800gto, should maybe pay the extra nad get an x850 xt be sure you;re getting a proper card.

TonyMontana 04-02-2006 05:57 PM

how good is a

Intel® Pentium® D processor 830 3.0GHZ, 800Mhz FSB

and

ATI x1600 pro 256mb

geRV 04-03-2006 02:30 AM

The pentiums decent, should be able to overclock it a good bit, the x1600 pros a piece of wank.

elstatec 04-03-2006 02:34 AM

Id send it back if i were you, thats the same board that arrived when i ordered an x800gto 2 for my uncles system. Its possible to unlock the other pipelines with a bios flash and clock it higher but the core on those cards is the r430 core, the cores on the proper gto2's is the r480 core which has 16 pipes out of the box and can clock to x850 speeds.

If i were you id send it back and pay the extra for a proper x850 board, least that way you know you;re gonna get what you pay for.

elstatec 04-03-2006 06:40 AM

looked around done some research, seems like sapphire sneeky fucks released this 3rd version gto2 with a r430 core bah. Sent RMA request to ebuyer and hopefully will be able to get the real gto2 from http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInf ... &GroupID=0

geRV 04-03-2006 07:09 AM

They are sneaky fucks in how they do it, slap a gto2 heatsink on it and put it into a gto2 box. annoy:
