I'm sure muslims living in western countries will experience more civil liberties
than they would have in their country of origin regardless of this survey.
Heaven forbid that the people surveyed should express an opinion about
whats going on in their own country. eek:
Perhaps you could answer for me why it is that these measures are even being
talked about in America, and already being inacted throughout Europe?
Did everyone suddenly become racist like me (according to pyro) or religiously intolerant
of muslims just for fun?....or do you think there might just be a little more to it than that?
I would be interested in your opinion on this.[/quote:08eef]
I was actually just seeing what your actual opinion on that was, so you could clear the baseless accusation that you are a racist. (instead of reacting angrily.)
People are certainly entitled to their opinion (even if it isn't neccesarily a fair one), but if a politician decides to use these opinions to create a law, and gets enough support to get it enacted. Then once again a group of people will suffer just because they are a certain religion. However this is highly unlikely, but its still enough to raise concern.
The main reason for why this is being talked about is simply because of 9/11. After it was revealed that Muslim terrorist were the cause of the attacks, people began to fear Muslims in general, and began to pay more attention to Muslim countries. Because most of the news in relation to these countries is mostly negative (and rightly so) and because that news is based mostly on the actions of the leaders and the leader's followers, people began to assume that all Muslims were like those leaders and thus the fear increased and in some cases eventually turned into hatred.
