A squirrel is a sport animal. But more than that it is an animal that is harvested for food. When I was a kid, deer hunting was considered a rich man's sport. We couldn't afford to join a hunting club or even to buy the rifle we would need. But all you need to hunt rabbit or squirrel is a cheap shotgun. At a time when my Dad was making about $7,000 per year, squirrel hunting was a way to put a little meat on the table and to have a change of pace from eating a heckuva lot of chicken.. If that's gay then so be it.
