^lol "the movie plays like a clumsy assault on post-9/11 paranoia. It references "America's war," uses imagery direct from Abu Ghraib and contains dialogue likely to offend anyone who's not, say, a suicide bomber. Buildings are symbols, V tells a haunted young woman named Evey (Natalie Portman), after saving her from some vile, rampaging cops: "Blowing up a building can change the world." Best part though "But the screenplay is full of clichéd caricatures of power-hungry Christians and government-controlled TV anchors, as well as being extremely talky. (The Wachowskis' presence is felt not just in the movie's imagery—in the slow-mo shot of raindrops and in the vapor trails that follow V's ching-chinging knives—but in the endless scenes in which people sit around explaining stuff.)" |
" Remember, remember the fifth of November,
gunpowder, treason and plot, I see no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot. " |
I'm hearing that some people are taking this movie too seriously. eek:

Nyck have you actually seen the movie?[/quote:d3383] no Ill see it when it comes out on dvd, but being a wachoslsisksissksksi brothers movie I asssumed fighting effects, explosions and a lot of dialogue. Im sure its a great movie and I'll enjoy it as a "fictional" action movie but that guy points to what it is, trying to pass off terrorism as revolutionism. I mean "Blowing up a building can change the world" is the exact mind set of a terrorist bomber, end of story. I mean there is a reason why a movie about a guys blowing up buildings in london to strike back against the terrible govt and lifestyle was pushed back on its release date when guys actually blew up stuff in london to strike back against the terrible govt' and its lifestyle. But that is desensitized by the over cliched govt controls everything storyline. The real question is are there impressionnable individuals in todays society that would take this fictional story as truth and decide to act upon the movies storyline. |
There is no reason to take this movie toooo serious. The movie is for entertainment purposes, and if there is any politics involve - so what? I think enough time has passed since the 9/11 terrorist attack. Plus it does make great points, it is just sad that most of them deal with things happening today. Like listening to conversations, and hinting that perhaps 9/11 was done by our goverment, and the entire religion thing. It was all extreme 'what if' posibilities.
It kinda reminded me of 1984, but with a happier ending. Other than that, it was a great movie. |

Well when Bush gets overthrown we can blame it on alan moore's graphic novel and the Wachowski brothers movie.

I know it's a fictional story of a 1980's graphic novel. Unfortunantly some people take everything to its core. Hence the reason why geRV has paralyzed 56 leperachauns while imitating WWE Smackdown |
Indeed..but I don't know of to many examples of a movie showing a controversial or political issue and taking a side on that issue and when someone witnessed this movie they immediately went out and did something about it..

Oh yes, Smith ... I always enjoyed the way he talked, but now talking like a human, and all these quotes, is very eloquent. Well, it makes me wanna talk like that, seriously. Sadly I don't have the suit and mask to go w/ it. Well, just talk like him, and it wouldn't hurt to be able to fight like that, but not causing harm.
