Time travel can not happen, only the present exists. You can not change the past, because then the present wouldn't exist., You can't go into the future because there is no future, much like the saying "Yesterday, today was tomorrow, but it's still not tomorrow.
But for the sake of argument, lets say someone from the future traveled back in time to about 2000 years ago. Lets say that technology has advanced so far in the future that things can be altered by merely using your mind. So say this person wanted to change the world to a better place. What would be a better way than to say he was the son of God, use his technology to create "Miracles" and then be resurrected upon his death. I think that would make great book, or movie, hmm maybe they will use this idea for Terminator III.

I have those all the time. When it happens a few days later, I just sit there thinking about that. I want to tell someone, but I assume they would think I'm a few cards short of a full deck.

For all you people that are into that shit, don't allow yourself to hit the round, lol!

Here is my take on the God question: a house does not build itself.
Seeing as infinite regression is impossible, there has to be a first cause.
Notice also that questions of time do not apply to such a being; time is
simply the observable difference in measure of a system devised by a
human to record the number of units between two points of motion made
by an object or otherwise observable phenomena (let that sink in :-) ).

I never liked the religious explanations, but science has yet to satisfy me
with an answer that makes sense: a universe coming into existence without
the help of an intelligent creational force seems highly unlikely to me, more
so than the idea of a force having always been. It's too early for anyone to
tell with absolute certainty, so let's not start flaming each other over this.

Well said Solidus, as usual.

I wouldn't worry about anyone flaming each other on this, since 99% of the people on this forum won't figure out what you said for another 10 years.

well i dont beleive in the God creator, and scientists have yet to proove their theories in as much way as religous beleivers have yet to proove God exsists. I cant beleive in something I have never seen.
I dont lose any sleep over the issue of how we got here. I am however part of the above 1%.

Old Reliable 12-17-2002 07:01 PM

In Star Wars, they travel at light speed, but when they turn it off, the time catches up with them...am I not mistaken?

Sgt. Tsunami 12-17-2002 07:04 PM

I'm not sure about Star Wars, but in another movie(Wing something, probably Wing Commander) when they did a jump, everything on the carrier stop. After they finished, it was like only an instant happened.

Old Reliable 12-17-2002 07:05 PM

How the hell did this turn into an argument about God hake:

12-17-2002 07:12 PM

anyone watch the langoliers before? yeah that's how time travels gonn'a be like

My position on religon....Coming from a Jewish VS Christian heritage....Is a Pseudo-Baptist, cum, Regretful Atheist.

In other words, I WANT to believe in heaven, god...Life after death, but science just won't let me. I just can't get past the facts. Scientific theories are just a lot more believeable, but yet, the thought of what's after death just scares me.

HaVoc 12-18-2002 01:20 AM

...I can see where this is going.

"Did you just say they hunt cats down there!?"

HaVoc 12-18-2002 01:42 AM

I missed trippers's post...

Here is my view on god. Instead of trying to place yourself into a postion on wheather he could or could not gos exist, think about the reasons why people tell us he exists. In my view, everything in the bible are simply stories which did not occar fact-for-fact, with that said all those stories are based on actual events. What I'm saying, is that to me, everything in the bible was wirtten simply to give us rules and limits in an attempt to shape us into better people.

<looks at the time> I better get to bed now...

Yah, the metophorical bible...I've heard that theory...It's the most believable.

BTW, Good too see you post Havoc...It's been a while. You still doing the 82nd AB clan thing?

12-18-2002 03:20 AM

according to the theory of relitivity you could not go BACK in time but, you could theoreticly go foreward. You would need to be traveling close to the speed of light for there to be a major effect (lets say 99.999999999 percent the speed of light) so you go say to pluto and come back. Well because you were travelling near the speed of light it may take you a few minutes. But back on earth it would be years and years (maybes hundreds?) so when you did comeback your body would only have ages a few minutes but everyone else would be long gone.

Vance 12-18-2002 07:09 AM

Exactly what i was gonna put Jaizen

pest 12-18-2002 07:11 AM

What if you traveled faster than the speed of light? When you stopped, you could see yourself coming.

SoLiDUS 12-18-2002 08:50 AM

mmmm... coming...

for once my knowledge in space/time comes in handy! lol.

oh an pest, theoretically, i guess you might.. but following the theory of relativity you cannot actually go faster than or even as fast as the speed of light.

Vance 12-18-2002 12:34 PM

light can go as fast as the speed of itself....biggrin:

And Jaizen....you say for once your space knowledge has come in handy.....I say for once we actually agree on something! We've broken a barrier angel:

Tripper 12-18-2002 01:41 PM

It's cause he is a bastard COMMIE! Damn Commie space program.... evil:
