OK, a long time ago in a place called England a big, old, sailing ship called HMS Endeavour & commanded by some chap called Captain Cook set off to find new lands in the name of the most revered & glorious King George III.

The ship sailed all away across the world to an Island the Dutch had been visiting & navigated & explored the area a little more, then Captain Cook thought it was rather good & claimed the land for Blighty.

The area was then colonised by British sailors & anyone looking for adventure & promise in new lands. I believe some of the more naughty people were sent to another island a little further to the South West. They ended up going down there at the end of a sentence, which is probably why their sires tend to rise up in pitch at the end of theirs biggrin: j/k.

A couple of centuries later this little island becomes inhabited to quite an extent by ex brits & they start to take on their own form of government & style whilst still retaining some links to the old land & valiantly lend aid & support to them in times of need. Once the island moves into more modern times it begins to stand up on its own two feet, gains independence but still retains some of the old links in the form of an international organisation known as the 'Commonwealth'.

Old England, being a famous maritime power tried to do this in a number of places, and in many of them it succeeded, but in one particular place in North America the locals were rather rowdy one day & said some nasty thing about the King & taxes & even threw some snowballs at some soldiers & dumped tea in a river. The King got pissed off & sent the army over to tell these colonial rebels to stfu, but with the help of the French & Dutch & Spanish &tc these little upstarts managed to fight an effective guerilla war against people dressed in redcoats. The Brits were obviously weaker in this climate due to lack of tea & decided it was best to go home & have a nice cruise & destroy a few French ships along the way, so they called it a day at Yorktown. Ever since then this place has been excluded from Englands little gang because they didn't like the idea of having a King or ties with the old world. Nevertheless, we forgave the rebels for dumping tea & they seemed to get used to sipping coffee so we resumed trade with them & had a fairly close & happy history other than the time they tried to take over a big ol white place to the North & we had to burn down a white house or something & then there was Suez but its better we dont go there.
