isnt it in multi universe theory the outcome of an event is always the same?

Old Reliable 12-16-2002 11:41 PM

If they're all the same...

It depends on your view of the world too: do you hold that our world is
totally deterministic in nature, or that free will exists for conscious entities?

It's one of those interesting subjective topics...

EDIT: When I say deterministic, I refer to those that believe the initial
conditions totally determine the outcome of the universe, meaning that
although you THINK you were thinking, you really aren't: the initial rules
determined that it would happen that way and no matter how much you
think you are "choosing", you aren't biggrin:

That's determinism for ya...

Bucknub 12-16-2002 11:50 PM

argh..... too much thinking ......my brain is straining oOo:

12-16-2002 11:51 PM

cant setermine my brain

KTOG 12-16-2002 11:52 PM

ok, i'll try to disprove time for all of you with a few questions.

When was time invented?
How was time invented?
What was before time?

12-16-2002 11:54 PM

so then there's like a big bang and time was created

[quote="Old Reliable":fc2b2]yeah so that means germ will always be gay! :([/quote:fc2b2]

the universe cant change my brain

Bucknub 12-17-2002 12:07 AM

Frig.. sometimes I find myself thinking we are all in a big dream and one of these "days" this "person" shall awaken from "its" slumber and all of "mankind" will perish.

cameltoe 12-17-2002 01:45 AM

i donno if anyone watched that show sliders back in the day but i think time travel will be like that.. its sort of like the multiverse thing

what if we're all in the matrix and dont know it *spooky voice*

Tripper 12-17-2002 01:49 AM

Aaw, man...This type of stuff scares me.

Old Reliable 12-17-2002 02:02 AM

well there was the "land before time"

Tripper 12-17-2002 02:07 AM

Time has to do with motion, and with the big bang, motion starts; therefore,
we can say that the "beginning" of time could be when the big bang occured
even though there aren't any precise definitions of what time is. We didn't
invent time; we simply devised a way to measure it. Time is special just like
gravity is in the sense that we know it's there but can't really expound on it.

This doesn't change the fact that motion and events occur, and that there
might be possible ways of re-visiting them at a later time biggrin:
