in a california court easily but i'm sure a convincing argument could be made on it in just about any court. big brother type of stuff.

Internet privacy act anyone? Last I recall your ISP will never give out information on its users. they can hunt all they want, its not about how many files 1 or even 1000 people have. Its about how many people have the 1 file you want. So they may get the "big" ones. But the power of P2P is shear number of users. They simply dont seem to grasp that.

Only a couple ways they can really stop us from sharing. Viruses and worms = illegal, Sewing kazaa for hosting this = wont hold up b/c kazaa isnt doing anything wrong, Getting everyone = mass lawsuit against music lables for intrusion of privacy, depriving childeren of an education (lawsuits have to be carieed out sometime and hte school year is big), mental trauma, wrongful suit lawsuits, and lots of violence and rioting. Lose lose for music lables if they try anything stupid.

They can sue anyone who's illegal hosting music. Child, or adult. There more than likely WILL be a backlash against the RIAA. The large bloc of youngster who DID buy ANY CRAP that was put out but became more selective what they actually purchased, will NOT suddenly flock back to spending all that money on store cds. Not gonna happen. When the sales figures stay the same, then the RIAA is going to have to face the realization that the consumer is sick of the prices, quality, and delivery system that is in place now.

Millions of hackers and filesharers are more resourceful than a handful of lawyers. They will just provide the catalyst for the next mode of p2p transfer.
