Pacific Assualt Developer

Who is the developer for this game? Is EA doing this in-house or are they getting an outside developer?

Paintballr 10-20-2003 04:23 PM

Who knows....better be better than SH and BT though...

It is a whole new bunch. I know they are developing own engine not going to be using quake 3 engine. It is also stand alone no Allied Assault.

Don't know much do ya? Its on the quake 3 engine with some modifications they've made for foliage and better particle effects.

are they ever gonna move on from the fuckin q3 engine? youd think after 4 games on it they would try something fresh and new annoy:

Gerard, please link us to where you saw that it was being made with the Q3 engine. Because I heard differently.

pest 10-23-2003 07:00 AM

I had heard ohterwise as well, but I dont know. I thought I had heard it was the unreal 2 engine.

geRV 10-23-2003 04:47 PM

Hmm i stand corrected, seems ea built an engine from the ground up. Near sure i read somewhere they were using a current game engine but enhancing certain efects such as particle effects, thats why i assumed they were reusing the quake 3 engine. eek:

Q3 engine hasn't lost the touch yet.

I know for a fact a lot of games are going to use the UT2k3 engine for years to come.

Paintballr 10-23-2003 08:01 PM

Or they can use what CoD used yea its a Q3 engine but they suped it up and made it even better.

Q3 engine has lost touch in a lot of areas. For walking animations for characters for example, all quake engine games seem to give the appearence of the models like theyre sliding across the ground rather than actually walking. As for skins for some reason in q3 games the weapons skins on models always seemt o look very basic even though the skin itself is very detailed in the actual tga format. Almost like its not being rendered properly in game.

I know! the quake 3 engine has got to go. By the looks of how it did with medal of honor it seems the quake engine doesnt like being modified. The quake 3 engine was only good for one thing, quake 3.
