obtaining a credit card
ok, ive been trying to get a credit card for a while and each application I apply for I get denied, I don't know why. I lie, like most people do on a credit card form to get one. but I still cant get it. I have a job, only have two bills to pay, which are nothing and I give my parents $60/month for room and board. I've been turned down at least 4 times and each time I get denied, any little credit I have, goes down, and my parents had some issues with a bank and now they dont have a credit card so I cannot co-sign with them. I dont go to college or university (at the moment) so I dont have one handed right to me. now I just applied again for a card and told them my monthly income was $1300, which is a lie. i make much less than that. I really need a credit card, it would help me and be alot more convienent, plus I plan on buying a car later this year, and im pretty sure I'll need a credit card.
so what are some other methods of obtaining a credit card that you guys know of? |
Lieing isn't a good way to get what you want. eek:

Yeah, lying is for satan. |
why do you need a credit card.
i really can't understand why people want them when they don't have the money to pay for stuff. Do people really like paying 18% interest or whatever it is? I guess sometimes their required for people living on their own who need to pay rent and things are tight, . I have a credit card that I use for internet purchases. I always pay it off and i've never missed a payment. Never payed any interest. When I first got it they gave me a $500 limit. They bumped it up to $1300 now. I don't really need that much because the most my card has ever been was probably $400. Anyway, i don't think you can get one without co signing which you said you can't do. looks like your screwed. |

oh, missed that part. oOo:
your going to put a car on your credit card? oOo: I've had my card for 2 years and I have a 1300 limit. I doubt if you get a card now you'd have a high enough limit to buy a car with. I've bought 2 cars in my lifetime without a credit card. And why would you put a car on a card anyway? you can't really pay it all off at the same time, then you'd be paying interest on it. doesn't make sense...or am i missing something? |
First of all, don't lie. Secondly, make sure that you are current with all your obligations. If you're missing payments that are in your name, that will show up on your credit report. Also, realize that the more that you apply for credit, loans, etc. that can hurt your overall credit score. Each time that your credit report is pulled from one of the 3 major companies in charge of that shit, it counts against you. That is of course you all applications are made within a close period of time for the same thing; mortgage or car loan for example.
Sounds like you should stay away from a credit card. If you don't have the coin to pay for stuff outright, it'll just get you in trouble. If you really need one for the convenience of ordering shit and that kind of thing, your best bet is to call one of these companies and see what they can do for you. Its to easy to just deny your application. Good luck. |

I had a $213 bill from all the World War II books I ordered. Took me about 7 months to pay it. biggrin:
I wonder if that makes things bad. oOo: |
I am going to get a credit card for internet purchases only, hate those bloody things.

The car deal; most dealerships will not let you put any portion of a car on a credit card. I wouldn't even entertain that thought. |
if you have a SS# you have a credit history. people can lie all they want, credit histories catch'em every time. when i was a car salesman we used to drop at some of the shit people would write and then compare it to the history report.
