Ides of March

To those that dont know the story, supposedly Caesar went to a prophet and the prophet told him, watever he does to not go to work on the ides of march(march 14). He ignored the prophets warnings and went to work anyway, and on that day he was brutally murdered. So what do u guys think? Coincidence?

Unknown_Sniper 03-15-2005 06:52 PM

everyone I know is still alive. I went to school and work yesterday Im alive. The prophet was probably in on the murder and just had a guilty consence.

Trunks 03-15-2005 06:54 PM

i guess thats a possibility. But if that were true wouldnt it have been easier just to tell caesar the truth, and prevent him from being murdered?

ninty 03-15-2005 06:57 PM

i'm sure there are lots of people murdered yesterday. so for some people, that march 14th thing would be true. for others it wouldn't.

is this for every march 14th, or are you just saying that the guy told him not to go on this day and he did and he died?

I personally don't believe that any of that stuff is true, however I don't count it out.

That is much like my theories on god. I'm agnostic.

"An agnostic thinks it impossible to know the truth in matters such as God and the future life with which Christianity and other religions are concerned. Or, if not impossible, at least impossible at the present time."

I guess you could apply that to this type of thing as well.

That was just in the Shakespeare play, Julius Caesar.

In real life, we was just murdered on Ides of March by the Senators, there was no predicition stuff.

are u sure about that? Im almost positive there was some kind of prophesizing or something involved...

Akuma 03-15-2005 07:14 PM

I'm pretty sure that was just what Shakespeare added to the play to make it more interesting. Like the witches in Macbeth.

Trunks 03-15-2005 07:17 PM

hmmm, interesting. Didnt know...

If someone "saw" the future. . .wouldnt it be the "future" with them "seeing the future" (and thusly trying to change the future) taken into account?

That is the age old question.

Some would say that you can't change your destiny, and that if someone could see the future, that future would happen no matter what you did to avoid it.

However, like you said, if I see the future and I change it, how can it be the future? Somewhat like the Grandfather Paradox.

Some people will also talk of an infinite number of parrallel universes where every possibility is worked out.
