My friend is having problems with his deck... changing gears and braking change the settings on his deck, such as the equiliezr and stuff. Then the buttons won't work except for the volume. What the fuck is going on?

Tell your friend he should've went with a composite material instead of CCA. It'll last a lifetime and only needs to be power washed every now and again.
