What do you think would be better… Having strictly assigned weaponry, or having it so that when you kill an enemy you have the ability to pick up his weapon?

Myself i would say

1)A class system where youcan pick up,up to 2 main weapons.

2)A class system where u can pickup a new weapon but you automatically drop your current main weapon (like in counterstrike).

I would prefer it if in multiplayer u had to press a key to drop a weapon instead of just running over the weapon.

Koshi 08-12-2001 12:43 AM

2 main weapons? I say one main weapon, but you should be able to drop your current main for another.

Neo8234 08-12-2001 12:57 AM

I would want the ability to pick up other weapons from dead people, but only if you drop your current one.

Koshi 08-12-2001 12:59 AM

thats what i meant

If you ask me, i think it should be
A: Divided into several classes, ie Medic, heavy inf., light inf., recon, sniper.
B: Once you choose your class, there is a set of weapons unique to that class - ie only the light inf. can choose a garand or a Carbine or a Gewehr or a mauser.
Only a scout can choose a thompson or an mp40, etc.
C: You choose your sidearms RS style.

Then, if you wanted to get ultra realistic, you could make it so each side only has a set stockpile of weapons and ammo, and when you run out of a certain gun or a certain ammo, phwoosh, you outta luck.
However, you gain ammo with each kill your team makes!

After reading all your post I came with my conclusion.

I would have it so that you can you can choose from a group of classes, each containing one primary & secondary weapon and of course the a stealthy little knife http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif. And you would have the ability to pick dead enemy weapons, as long as you drop your current primary weapon. But if you are a medic, for example, and you picked up a sniper rifle, it would be nearly as steady as if you were an actual sniper.

The US never signed the Geneva Convention (kinda ironic) so technically a GI can attack/kill/maim or what ever the hell he/she/it wants.

Y make it like teamfortress2? just think of something origonal, something no other game has done http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif maybe something as a pointsystem: u devide points to things as aim, healing powers, armor, speed, etc. if u set everything on aim, u make a very good sniper, but u are slow and almost unpretected. that would be origonal and cool.

HaVoc 08-15-2001 08:14 AM

...so kinda like Firearms in way.

OK, so no geneva convention, but what about their hypocratic oath? the one they take not to hurt, only heal.
