Bush Signs Defense Spending Bills.......wOOt!
WASHINGTON — "Our nation faces grave new dangers, and our nation must fully support the men and women of our military who confront these dangers on our behalf," Bush said before signing legislation providing a hefty increase in defense spending and financing for military construction projects in 2003.
The $355.4 billion defense bill, approved with overwhelming support to provide most of what Bush requested, increases spending by more than $34 billion over the previous fiscal year. "Any time the United States of America sends our youngsters into harm's way they deserve the best pay, the best training and the best possible equipment. ... It doesn't matter how long it takes to defend freedom, we'll do it. ... We have a duty to future generations of Americans to make this land secure. the defense measure increases spending in almost every area, from weapons procurement to payroll. It includes a 4.1 percent pay raise for military personnel and almost all the $7.4 billion Bush requested to keep developing a national missile defense system. The defense bill also provides $3.3 billion for 15 C-17 transport aircraft, $2.3 billion for two Aegis destroyers, $3.2 billion for 46 Navy F/A-18 E/F fighters and $3.5 billion to continue developing the Joint Strike Fighter. Another $249 million is allotted for Navy Tomahawk cruise missiles, a prime weapon in the Persian Gulf War. -------------------------------------- This news deserves a big ol' wOOt. |

How about spending it on the less fortunate? Why not give the money to help people in the US...There are sure a shitload of people that could use that money....But oh No! Lets make like Hitler and arm like the US is going into WW3! |
[quote="Pfc.Green":02248]Hell they can increase military spending anytime in my book, just means I'll get paid more biggrin:[/quote:02248]
Don't get your hopes up.. The money will be ate up by the Military/Industrial machine that the U.S. has created. It's to bad. that we feel that we have to spend so much for defense. |
I do not understand why the fuck this makes people happy. If anything it cements the fact that bush is nothing but a little war mongor.
|
Hey as I said, increased budget= increased pay for me and the rest of the military cool: 4.1% increase.

I have to agree, america has more prominent problems than "defense" but all this money gets thrown away for missiles and ships and other shit. |
Yeah, and we said your leader pretty much sucks... cool:

Maybe the "poor" should get jobs, they seem to have enough time to stand by the side of the road with a sign and ask for my money.

Yeah just walk anywhere in any country ask for a job and you automatically get one. If it were that simple no-one anywhere in the world would be jobless. |
Re: Bush Signs Defense Spending Bills.......wOOt!

Yeah they sure do...Who the fuck wouldn't? What are they supposed to do, go back to their nice home and have a fucking Mocha Frapaccino? I don't think so....And I hardly think they can just go up to any McDonalds and ask for a job when they smell 5 years old, and look like they slept in a fusion of body juices. Yeah, they'll get heaps of job offers.... |
The thing with homeless here is that most of them have jobs, but there si no where affordable for them to live. The average house here costs $200,000. Most people can't afford that on getting 6 dollars/hour at McDonalds.

Think about it, if we became became serious about space exploration. The amount of jobs created would be endless. |
But how much money will it take to get serious about space exploration.
To get serious, you will need to definitley find an alternative source of power for getting places. The space shuttles and not efficient in the financial area. Space exploration now is very expensive. Until newer and cheaper technology is avaliable, exploration at this time is a little out of the question. |
