Hey ! It works , after a few misteps (I'm not a PC whizzbang) I did get it to work. A little tip , copy and paste his whole filter file (as he recommends) as I had no luck with just adding the SH text into what's already there, Also my filter file opens with Wordpad which saves it wrong. Do a right click "open with" and use Notepad as he did. Select all , delete it and then paste his into it.
Thank you muchly! Since I don't use Gamespy and the ingame browser doesn't work real good , this will be a big help. |

The reason copying the text doesnt work is there are spaces at the end of each line which need to be deleted.

It works for me too, but I only have around 60 or so servers. A quick check of the in-game browser shows there are just over 200 listed there at the same time... What gives?

It isn't working for me.
I had to go into the filter.txt that I dl'ed from the site and change the pathname for spearhead, so now the icon appears in the gamelist for ASE, whereas before, it was just a folder, but, it still isn't working. I deleted the spaces, and it didn't help. Any tips would be great! Thanks guys! :D |
NM, I just got spearhead servers mixed in with AA servers. Is that how its supposed to work?

People make sure u don't put up mirrors without my consent.
I love for my information to be free, so i am hoping before a mirror is being put up people contact me first. The reason is because i don't want my information covered with all kind of popups when people go to it. So at least the page where my mirror info is make sure there are not more than 1 if not none at all. On my official mirrors including on -]EcM[- LudA's of course u won't find any popups. (maybe one but if there MIGHT be one it would not be in our power to put it on or off). I can assure you it would not benefit me thou. Getting my own filters.txt is recommended.
But if u have other games installed and use ASE make sure u edit yours, it is probably the best way not to get in problems. Should not be so hard i think the screens help. Also close ASE and then save the filters.txt then open ASE again to make sure ASE won't overwrite it itself (rarely if ever would happen, but it is not impossible). Also when u install updates make sure u back up filters first if u install updates. You will prolly have to do it all over again but it is a simple process once u do it one time. |

It seems a little strange to tell people not to mirror your ASE fix. When the main reason it works was figured out by someone else. |

And about the miroring i really care when people mirror to exploit others, by showing all kind of popups and spam (i have a reason to believe you are one). I trully don't mind if someone mirrors my information. I only want to make sure no ads pop. Asking is a polite way. But i should not tell you that cause that is your mom's job, if she can do it well*?. I want no gain so no other people should make any money or bull out of it either. I only asked a simple question. The earliest post I found about the filter.txt was on the ASE forum. The earliest post about the new filter info is from here. You seemed a little overboard on the don't mirror me... don't mirror me.... When it's based on information offered by other people from here and other forums. I think your concern that someone would use this as you put it "a money maker" is a little misplaced. |

Well i see u all are concerned with me being paranoid of other peope mirroring it.
That's also about if people mirror it then i canot change anything in it, if something comes up, like i might have wrong things (unnecessary spaces, or wrong spelling or additional info, like for how to join with a desired name so u don't have to change everytime u join a server) in it right now i have not reviewed it so throughly. Next i want to revise it so it'll easier for people to understand. that's why i have put up 4 mirrors 5 with LudA's which will be up to date too, and will put more if there is the need. Yah that's true, but if u want it updated u have to do it all over again because i talked to
ASE admins and i realize it would be trouble to support this which is called a hack without EA-GSA consent. EA-GSA don't want ASE to support it, well mostly GSA and they rule on this matter wheter YES or NO. But do you think they want you to use ASE? NO of course. So EA-GSA contract 'till 2004 stands up, and GSA is behind it getting rich. |

All someone needs to do is make their own little filter, upload it to some shitty website, and bam - free access 24/7. Hell I could do that. I prefer the method that I (and the entire state of TEXAS) figured out how to do. The "filter" thing is only good for a PRETTY ICON (since it wont pick up ALL the servers). You may continue. Oh, and this isn't your intellectual property ECM. You're "tweaking" the filter for a program that isnt copyrighted to you. ASE could put this "fix" on their website, claim its theres and you wouldnt have a leg to stand on. |
Thanks for your notice, but as i see you have not figured out nothing. You were probably not able to join the servers and have not shown to anyone even if u "as you pretend" discovered it. I put the puzzle together and now of course people are going to come and "pretend", of course they did it. Just like you. So please cut it out i want no arguing about this. I am doing a public service and forget it boy, try somewhere else. Who knows what u are looking for in this but if EA has done nothing it was up to us to find a way, to enjoy the game our way. Thanks for your understanding.
