Calculus final on the 16th. That's my only final, but I'll have lots of other work to do before that.

Argon 12-03-2002 12:47 AM

sure fire away, i didnt go to college and grad school for nothing

PM if you seriously want help, i have no problem helping people who need it, i am also a chemistry TA for:

http://www.brainmass.com

But you have to pay for their service.

Innoxx 12-03-2002 12:54 AM

Heh, I'll be assembling a 8 chamber bong while you guys are going to be cooped up in a gym doing a test.... or secretly rubbing your penis under the desk because the hot teacher is wearing a miniskirt, and she has more legs than a bucket of chicken.

Argon,

how can one easily tell apart if a rxn is to be Sn1, Sn2, E1, or E2???? I get those all mixed up. oOo: thx

I am a 5th year graduate student "hopefully" getting my Ph.D this may in Organic polymer chemistry.

Substitution, is just that you substitute one group for another.
ie nucleophilic displacement of a halogen(Br, I) by nucleophile(OH-, CN-)

Elimination is removing something (usually H, by a Base) to form an unsaturated double or triple bond.
ie the removal of an Acidic proton followed by Beta elimination of some sort of leaving group to give an unsaturated bond.

1 vs 2. 1 means that it is a step-wise reaction, ie A happens then B happens (Not at the same time). 2 means that they happen simultaneously. Their are many factors that favor 1st order or 2 nd order reaction rates (the are too numerous to mention here) but it has to do with stability of the leaving group, solvent polarity, stability of the formed Ionic species, etc..

Ok email or PM met, it might be easier than putting everyone else through Organic 101. Its also a lot easier if you can see the reactions on the paper instead of someone explaining. I have some good tutorials that I use with my undergrads I can send along.

I fucked up in my GCSE's and had to do GNVQ i fucked up in that and now I'm doing AS-Level. I think I'm going to fuck up in that too.

I don't bother with revising for Mock exams. If you get an F so what? swordfight:

SoLiDUS 12-03-2002 02:42 AM

Did my final math exam today - what a joke. Now I can relax until January:
I have two more math classes to do! I'll take the opportunity to learn Latin
and Greek, on top of reading so many books my prescription will probably
change...

Maybe I can get kickass looking glasses like these --> cool:

The Counter-Sniper 12-03-2002 06:31 AM

Let's see. Calculus, Classical Literature, one exam in Political Science. biggrin:

[quote="Old Reliable":9be18]two sample hypothesis test, define the null and the alternative hypothesis[/quote:9be18]

i'm taking this course too....

make sure u know the formulas for T-tests, Z-test, and how to tell what your null and alterhantive hypotheses are. Know your sum of squares, means, etc....

oh yeah, and analysis of variance, aka ANOVA testing.

con Brio 12-06-2002 01:55 PM
