Is any game worth $200 ?

Long story cut short, steel batallion for the xbox costs $200. You get the game (duuh) a big controller plus a set of pedals.

Price breakdown.

Game = $50

Pedals and controller = $50

Hiring a forklift to bring it home = $100

All that for $200US? Well I guess its worth it if the game is really good and you can use the controls for other games than its fine probably.

12-04-2002 08:22 AM

What do you need so many controls for???
the Predator UAV rig has less buttons.

Shit I guess Gerard has lots of money. A fast computer, a gamecube, ps2 and Xbox. You rich mofo. cry:

I didn't buy the game at all. When it is released in uk\ireland its gonna cost £150 which imo is too much for a game, even with a snazzy joystick.

12-04-2002 09:35 AM

ah, mecha, now I see what the many controls are for.

If they had a Robotech game like that I might buy it, otherwise, generic mech combat, bah to that.

descry 12-04-2002 09:51 AM

i just bought that 4 days ago. its a pretty cool game.

Zoner 12-04-2002 10:13 AM

Sweet JEEZUS! Do you need a degree to play that sumbitch or what??

Looks too complicated for my beer-soaked brain.

I got the x-box, and I have to say you should p[robably stick with Mech Assault for some mech action. The game is perfect, a little too arcadey, but for online play it is the best game you can get. Steel Battalion looks cool, but unless you can use the controller for other games (you can't) then I don't think I will pick it up till it drops too an incredibly low price of... what a game should cost. Of course, I usually love sims, but I love money more, and for now Mech assault although less simmy then Mech Warrior2, is still a great game. IMO

Old Reliable 12-04-2002 01:49 PM

mech warrior only

Airborne Butters 12-04-2002 04:53 PM

Hell yea that game is worth it! I don't have an X-Box but after reading up about the SB I want it! That thing looks so cool, even if the game sucks.

Star85 12-04-2002 05:33 PM

I heard it was good. Is it true you must eject before you die or you lose you saved game file?

Captain Bunny 12-04-2002 06:56 PM

Yeah, if you dont eject in time (which you should know when time is near cause your cock pit is sparking and your windows are cracked) you lose your saved game files. you cant then just restart the level, you must first buy a new mech with the points you earn. if you dont have enough points for a mech then its game over.
some of the buttons on the controls are just to start up the mech.

it does sound pricey at around £150, but remember that that is the r.r.p, so you can probably get it for £20-£30 less if you shop around.
Its really no different than buying a snowboard for the snowboarding games, or a good steering wheel. the game and controls adds up to a reasonable price, and a worthy pruchace for all x-box owners.

I SO want to play that game. The controller itself is $200....but god I hope they make more games for that controller

I saw it on Tech TV about a month and a half ago.

The game with the controller is £200 not just the controller itself.

Cethin 12-04-2002 08:59 PM

I thought I saw it $200 by itself...oh well...still expensive :)

12-04-2002 09:00 PM

anygame that is over 99.99 dollars is not worth buying.

roughly £150 for the game and controller, i will be buying it.

[DAS REICH] Blitz 12-04-2002 09:11 PM

yeah, depends, i'd only pay for a $200 game if i'm actually in the game... like virtual reality, i'd love to play Medal of Honor like that.

JBird 12-05-2002 02:21 AM

lol i played a virtual reality or "VR" game once in downtown chicago at North Pier....i think it was Battle Tech....but this was like in 1995 when i was 15 yrs old...that shit was like state of the art back then.....gameboy advance has more 'advanced' graphics than it had lol plus the VR helmet / view screen was as big as a refrigerator lmao

actually it's somewhat simpler because (as someone said earlier) each button only has like one function, so its more like a PC flightsim where each keyboard key has a function, rather than a regular console game where you have to do those annoying combo-moves.

Pyro 12-06-2002 12:14 AM

just but Mech Assault...it is cheaper and better.

Bazooka_Joe 12-06-2002 10:57 AM

HOly crap, screw that. That control is massive. I might as well buy a real Panzer tank!

a tank tank?
what mark is that?

12-06-2002 04:00 PM

I will never buy a game that is $200. I'll play it get bored with it than move onto another game. Then a few weeks or so I'll play it again and so on and so fourth.
