Why EA Games can bite me.
 

Okay, so I call up EA Games technical support regarding my problem with Spearhead, where the game just shuts off with no illegal operation or anything, and nothing goes wrong in the console. Well, this is the third phone call now, so I am a bit perturbed:

EA Games: Technical Support

[insert crappy, generic greeting here]
"Yeah, I just called because I've been having problems with the Spearhead expansion for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. They told me I should call around this time so that I could speak with 'tier 2' tech support..."
"Okay, what seems to be the problem?"
"Oh, are you one of the 'tier 2' people?"
"No, but I might be able to help you."
"That's what the last guy said, and he kept me on the phone until after the 'tier 2' people were gone for the day, and then told me I'd have to speak with 'tier 2' support."
"Oh, well let's go ahead and look at some things here."
"For 'tier 2'?"
"Maybe. First off, what is the problem you're having?"
"My game just closes instantaneously while I'm in the single-player mode. There are no Windows errors and no errors on the console logs."
"Mmhmm. Okay, do you have any modifications installed?"
"Of course. Could I please just speak with the 'tier 2' people? I've been through your handbook twice now. If I go through it again, you guys could hire me without having to train me."
"Okay, so you have modifications installed. Have you tried removing them?"
"Please tell me you're kidding."
"I'm sorry, sir?"
"Can you put me through to the 'tier 2' people?"
"I just need to go through a few steps first."
"Do these people actually exist, or are they mythological creatures?"
"Pardon me, sir?"
"Tier 2?"
"What about them?"
"May I please speak with them?"
"Sir, if you'll just be patient while I -"

"Hi, this is Jessica. I'm sorry you had to hold, how may I help you?"
"Yeah, I just got off the phone with your tech support people. I was wondering if you could actually just put me through to the 'tier 2' people in tech support."
"Okay, have you called our technical support line yet?"

"Sir?"
"I hate you."

Ha. That sucks. Ask to speak to their manager. That works a lot of the time.

tell them to fuck 'em selves they can't even be arsed to bring out a patch to sort out the problems in the game.

i know your problem, this happened with me in the Sims. If you downloaded something to the game off of the internet (which i did) then your game got screwed up and you have to reinstall it. Thats what EA told me. It worked, but all my files were gone. What i also found that worked was deleting older game files (like Allied Assault) or just returning the game. But don't listen to me since i don't know what i'm doing. eatthis:

I don't know.. Anywho.. They probably have to filter out all the flame calls from people like me that feel EA purposely ruined the game.

Get rid of any modifications or reinstall. That might get rid of the problem.

you might also need to install gamex86.dll and such, that sounds like the same problem i had. Just rip them off your cd or take them from SH demo.

Yeah, we all hate EA, but it gets to the point that you have to get over it because they really don't care about a customer after they have bought the game. It's all about the $$$. I mean, yeah it would be great for them to give some game support, but that really wouldn't make them a profit so...
