but this time it's not working.. when I click on it, its starts loading and then just freezes and doesnt load anymore, but it still appears on my screen...I click cancle and then my computer suddenly goes ALOT slowly than usual. I went to clcik on it agian, but this time it doesnt load...I restarted my comp, and tried again this time I left it for it to laod, and i fell asleep for about 4 hours, and when I woke up, it still didnt do anything...anyone know the problem and how to fix it? could it be something I saved off the net, such as pics, cuz thats wht i did recently and now this problem has occured, here is a better Idea of what im referring too. the loading bar does not load anymore than those three loading blocks. |
That happens to me too. Well the part where i do disk cleanup then it just freezes but the rest hasnt. sorry dont know what to tell u?
|
i just walk away from the computer and then go get something to eat and when i come back its finnished,
for some reason it takes for ever to do a disk clean up in windows xp |
Chris, I left my computer on for 2 hours...and it finally did the reading of the files...then it asked to delete what ones...and took another 2 hours to finnally load that shit
Really, it doens't even delete that much unless you have gone to a million sites before your last cleanup. |
not for me... everytiem I did it before, it only took about 5 seconds to load, and then i got to pick what I wanted to clean
|
For about the first two times it did that for me
Then it just went to the shitter |
i cant believe i am doing this but go to
control panel internet options click delete flies then run your disk cleanup |

yeah I know, it tends to speed it up a bit. also if you are experiencing problems boot into safe mode and try it
|
don't click every option...make sure you always know what you're getting rid of.

|
I'll tell ya on msn.
|
anyone else know?
|
get Norton 2003. or run check disk before you clean it. something is wrong with your registry. Norton is a life savor.

Did you run Scandisk already? It might pick up any error and maybe your problem will go away. Also, when you run Disk cleanup try removing all the programs that are running in your pc at the time. do ctrl+alt+del and remove all the programs EXCEPT systray and explorer. That might do the trick. I always disable norton whenever i run cleanup and it works mighty fast.

I think scandisk is part of your anti virus program...
|
[quote:0290e]scan disk? where is that, I only know of disk clean up
[/quote:0290e] Scandisk is a windows program that checks your hard-drives for errors. I don't use Windows XP so I don't know if this program is there. Anyway, go to your System Tools (Start, Programs, Accessories) and run Scandisk. Do the Standard Test. The Thorough test takes alot of time depending of the size of your drive. When you have the avaiable time, you should run it as well. |
no, scandisk on xp is part of disk defragmenter...which itself is very inneficient
|
hmmm..... I dunno what to do oOo:

reliable is right....defraging is really pointless.

open up my computer .right click on your hard drive should be c go to properties choose tools. there should be something that says error checking. click that its basicly scan disk. i believe it will tell you to reboot, because xp cant go in to dos unless in the boot . and when you reboot it will check for errors. and PS i never had a problem with norton 2003 with xp
|
ive never done a disk cleen in xp. it does take a long time... wow. i just del the files myself. look around in documents and setting/yourusername/ . you can clear temp flies in there as well as temp internet. temp and temp interntet are under /docs and setting/youruser/local settings/. im pretty sure disk clean removes those files. dont delete the directories just the stuff in them.

old reliable helped someone ed:
