Know any good Classical pieces?
Well, I've been listening to alot of Classical music lately, mainly Chopin (Nocturne), Wagner (ride of the Valks), Tchaikovsky (1812 Overture, and certain swan lake pieces). I want to build up my rather tiny Classical music collection, any recommendations?
|
Vivaldi's Four Seasons is awesome.
Canon in D is one of my faves too. Anything from the Baroque era is great. Didn't think old Zoney would listen to that shit, didja? S'all good. Zone |
it all depends on what era you prefer...romantic, renaissance, baroque, classical, 20th century
|
Well, I wanna try and dip my wick in all eras, I've heard some very nice pieces from all.
|
my opinion would be start out with beethoven symphonies, mozart symphonies and bach organ pieces...talk about ultimate bass! i have over 50 cds full of classical music, personally I like eastern european composers and Russian. for more modern music look at stravinsky (rite of spring), (petrushka). Debussy is also a great example of post-romantic french music. also Richard Wagner (romantic era) composed awesome folk pieces. I also recommend Paganini violin pieces....a lot of them are extremely fast paced and very difficult to play. there is much much more...classical music is amazing music
|
Jeezus, how did I forget Paganini! His compositions are retarded! I knew a guy back home who could play some of that shit on the electric guitar...he blew me away.

Check out Mussorgsky's work. Very Good stuff.
Pictures at an Exhibition is one of his pieces that comes to mind |
yeah man, when he performed his own pieces he used to scare the audience. he'd come out with his head down and slowly lift it up, playing his violin. people actually thought he was influenced by Satan since his talent was so awesome.

oh! i forgot Ottorino Resphigi- Pini di Roma (pines of Rome). listen especially to Pines of the Appian Way...the music plays to show a mental image of an army returning home from battle through the Appian way of pine trees with Roman trumpets blaring victory cool:

Alright thanks guys; I'll check these guys out.
|
the good thing about clasical music CDs is if you are starting a collection, the CDs are very cheap, unless of course you get collections from well known orchestras with the highest quality of recording
|
oh music, I was gonna say Raqel Welch
|
HAW HAW HAW! Indeed...

My favorite all-time classical song is "RobinHood". It's really great. I went to see the Allentown Symphony Orchestra (oldest playing orchestra in the US) and they played it. To my suprise, in concert band at school, that is a selection for our spring concert! God, i love that song.

next fall, Itzhak Perlman is coming to my town biggrin:

old, what does the quote in your profile translate to? |
I dont know the exact translaiton, an old Polish song about the First Brigade
|
Hungarian Rhapsody by Liszt. IMO get the ones done in orchestra rather than piano.
|
Elgar - Pomp and Circumstance
Beethoven - 7th Symphony Beethoven - Moonlight Somata (3rd Movement) Prokofiev - Montagues and Capulets They are the best ones i can recommend that haven't already come up. Enjoy! |
I don't know if it's what you're looking for...
but, Rhapsody in Blue - George Gershwin is truly the best goddamn thing I've ever heard... and, Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing) - Benny Goodman as is that... My two contributions, however, I prefer Film Scores to "real" classical music, I dunno, more emotion behind the music or something... OH WAIT! I can suggest a good piece of classical music... Great actually... EVERYBODY GET THIS!!! Messe de Requiem: VII. In Paradisium Haunting, beautiful music... |
Bah,
Messe de Requiem: VII. In Paradisium is written/composed by Grabriel Fauré (1845-1924) Tada! Innoxx, you like classical music, you get that! :) |
In paradisum - Faure
No i :) |
