Granted, i think there's only about 4 of us (me, Eight Ace, Harlen MacGuire and of course BW), but do any of you follow the AFL? and if so, which team do you barrack for?

I'm Aussie too, from Brisbane QLD. There's no football in Taiwan so I don't really follow any of it. Only what my dad tells me now and then.

I'm a Queenslander, and I'm more of a rugby union man so I go for the Reds. But I guess I'm also obliged to go for the Broncos and the Brisbane Lions.

Never really been an AFL follower, never really been a footy follower either, but I do like watching a good game of Rugby. But seeing as QLD has some great teams I pretty much support them all.

All I know about AFL is that Brisbane just whooped Western Bulldogs arse so hard that they can't sit down for 3 weeks biggrin:

Yup, I'm a big AFL supporter...

Strangely, I'm a Brisbane follower, based in Victoria...

I'll tell you how that came to be;

When I was younger, my Father was watching the Fooball (Around here, slack jawed yokel territory, the 't' is silent ;))

He was watching a Brisbane match, and I found myself strangely attracted to the Brisbane mascot... (the, back then... Brisbane Bear)...

They were such a shit team back then, but that little Bear always had a smile on his face... Ohhh he was so sweet...

So while at school when all the other kids were going into indepth analytics of match statistics and the like, I ended up just talking about the Bear's fuzzy little face...

...So yeh, when I tell people I barrack for Brisbane, they assume I was a Fitzroy supporter turned Brisbane...

I laugh when I have to correct them and tell them to shut the fuck up. biggrin:

Actually, Wilkins, the Oz national "soccer" -cough- football -cough- team is probably the best it has ever been in footballing history.

Kewell, Swarzcher (or however you spell his name - da goalie) and Viduka are all quality players, for a start.

They aren't succesful at the moment but they are as close as they'll ever be to qualification for a major tournament.

Cricket they own, but there's not much competition in that game.

Rugby they are the best as well, although not as dominant as they (and the Kiwis) have been in the past.

I've never followed the AFL but I have watched a few games in my time and I must say it's a really enjoyable game to watch.

There's just zero coverage over here (unless you're into nocturnal viewing).

It's one of the more exciting and intricate (skillful) team games I've seen, though.

Yeah AFL is based on Gaelic football which is also a cool game to watch.

Yeah, the International Rules matches between Australia and Ireland are always a bit of fun to watch...also the Exhibition Games they stage in London look really cool biggrin:
