St. Anger Has You. . .

Well, not really. biggrin:

But anyways, I thought you should all know at 9AM EST this morning, their new CD, which is to arrive in stores on June 10th, can now be played over any radio station in the US. Howard Stern played two songs this morning, and I actually had to listen (I wanted to wait for the entire CD). He played the song "St. Anger", also the CD's title, and it sounded pretty damn good.

wintersforge 05-27-2003 07:48 AM

Zoner 05-27-2003 07:54 AM

Zoner 05-27-2003 08:30 AM

Man, that is insane shit. The singer sounds like a really pissed off Cookie Monster...haw haw!

Tight band...I don't care for the vocals at all, however. I much prefer singers that actually sing (e.g. Bruce Dickinson).

But, hey, if you dig it, that's cool.

wintersforge 05-27-2003 09:15 AM

yeah i figured from your musical taste you favor the more traditional front man stlye ala Dickinson. He has an amazing voice..almost epic or operatic in quality. Most of my meat and potatoes favors a more unrefined and raw vocal style..more akin to old school punk and hardcore or the throaty indoctrinations of Lee Dorian or Lemmy Killmeister...eh oOo:

Zoner 05-27-2003 09:41 AM

Speaking of Bruce and Lemmy, I got my tickets for the Maiden/Dio/Motorhead show in Montreal on Aug 2nd! WOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!

I can't fucking wait, man!

SIEG HEIL!

Bane 05-27-2003 11:42 AM

I just heard St. Anger on WRIF. Please tell me the rest of the album is better than that. Please. If they fail after "going back to their roots" they're done. Finished. Oh well... at least Justice was good.

Milla 05-27-2003 01:12 PM

The only 2 metallica songs i really like are The unforgiven 1 and 2. Fadxe to black isnt bad, maybe ill check out their new CD.

Airborne Butters 05-27-2003 02:14 PM

I heard the new song, I belive it was St. Anger. Now keep in mind I do like OLD Metallica, but this new song really sucks. It's got no seet rythm and it's very...unorganized. It sounds like System of a Down in some parts. I hope the rest of the CD is better.

pest 05-27-2003 02:32 PM

Isnt that beavis's favorite band? Or was that butthead?

Bazooka_Joe 05-27-2003 02:46 PM

Beavis = AC/DC, Butthead = Metallica. oOo:

They're playing St. Anger every hour on the hour today on WXRK New York 92.3FM because it's radio premiere day. I heard it once on this crappy office radio, and it sounded decent. Once I get into the car and turn the biznitch up, I'll judge it. evil:

Bazooka_Joe 05-27-2003 04:46 PM

OK, well I thought it was decent. Defineatly not the song I would use to promote the album, but it was decent. Lars kicked ass on those drums, as always, and the guitar riffs are ok, James still has it, but I don't like how he's singing still. Also, the song carried to many different changes of beat, like 2 or 3. And the background vocal when James was singing sucked. oOo:

Pyro 05-27-2003 04:47 PM

Master of Puppets is where it's at

rdeyes 05-27-2003 05:01 PM

metallica died when cliff burton did ....

Akuma 05-27-2003 05:36 PM

I'm just got the album. I'll tell you in an hour or so how it is.

Akuma 05-27-2003 05:43 PM

Umm... wow... All I can say is it shouldn't be called Metallica.

They went nu-metal and it sounds like shit.

hake:

Jotun 05-27-2003 06:23 PM

im a HUGGGEE metallica fan, but i dont like their new stuff as much as kill, ride, master, or justice. i reserved a copy of St.Anger the other day, its gonna be sold out for so long. but being the sheep i am, i'll follow and buy anything metallica puts out.

Nah Justice is good too, good message too. But for the most part you are right, cliff was awsome i get this funny feeling when I see videos eith cliff hes just amazing the way he played the way he held himself the man just had the magic much like James did before Bob rock stripped it away, I miss my old shat hake:

Akuma 05-27-2003 06:59 PM

The more I listen to this the more it pisses me off.... So I think I'll delete it from my hard drive before I have to go and break my other Metallica CDs...

Terrible.... hake:

Then again maybe I was expecting too much. But its still not good.

Where did you get it? I was hoping it wouldnt be this new metal crap but it was dissapointed as hell they should just stop writing new shit, I hate to say it but its terrible. These guys used to be idols now theyre nothing more than old rockers who were great in the 80's. I mean come on now they have completely lost all the magic? There old stuff is (going to sound wierd) but songs like Sanitariun, one and Fade to black those songs are god damned beautiful especially for metal theres so much depth and care are pain written into those songs anyone whose every had a shit day or felt bad can relate, the new stuff pure garbage. Kirk has no solos he only does riffing come on kirk used to tear it up now what does he do? He backs james up and anyone can do that not anyone can write solos like kirk and im majorly disspointed with the amount of change that went into this album. They let me down and thats it im just done.

Everyone really wants to know, how does it rate on the Mason Tough-O-Meter?

Airborne Butters 05-27-2003 09:52 PM

well I heard St. Anger 3 more times, and it really does suck. I wish they would just stick to their orignal old stuff and not try to conform to today's music.

Innoxx 05-27-2003 09:59 PM

So does this mean I should cancel my St. Anger download on mIRC?

Ferich 05-27-2003 10:01 PM

I'll take Slayer and Napalm Death any day, over Metallica.

rdeyes 05-28-2003 03:18 AM

Bob Rock

does this guy think he's a good producer?? they should shit can his ass... but the damage has already been done ..the video for st. anger was crap .. metallica thinks they can go back to hardcore metal ,just by flipping a switch ..sorry boys ...

Akuma 05-28-2003 04:01 AM

mikesnacki: IRC

Innoxx: You can download it if you want. See for yourself. There is only one song on the album after 3 times of listening to it, that I actually like.

Infernal_ 05-28-2003 08:22 AM

im at school right now i havent done one but of work ive been browsing teh forums for an hour listening to "Kill Em All" i think that that is hte best MetallicA album there is but i havent herd or bought St. Anger yet SOON I HOPE!! lol

MrLevinstein 05-28-2003 06:44 PM

I kind of take back what I had said before, I mean I was expecting another puppets and its a differnt age now so of course they are going to adapt. I'm starting to like it, it is very nu-metalish but still blows most other stuff out of the water and is a fairly repetative song but not that bad anymore.
